This is Amsel speaking, an associate of Lazurith's - you met a few days ago somewhere in the Omicrons.
He's unavailable at this current moment due to him having to go through a few other client assignments. So, if you'll allow it, I will be the one handling your deliveries through our freighter, callsign going by Batter. No, not the type of dough. And no, I didn't pick the name, either.
To reiterate your terms: you wish to have 500 units of Food Rations and 500 more of various supplements, fresh foods, perishables and more produce which can be bought in bulk. Unfortunately, we do not possess an establishment to gain legal access to Rheinland's wholesale retailers, but... nobody's going to bat an eye if we'll perform the purchase through some other means, if you catch my drift.
As for a fair pricing, this remains up for debate. We're not greedy, but we're not swimming in credits, either.
...I have to say, trying to establish a line with you has proven to be very complicated. How curious. I do hope this message reaches you at all.
And who are you, besides 'an associate of Lazurith'? Are you anything other than the former's scapegoat for jobs he's not confident in doing himself? I heard of him enough from my brothers and sisters to consider employing his services, even if it could be just for laughs. But you? Unknown quantity.
I don't put a lot of trust in people I only see over the Net -- Freelancers other than my own kin in particular. So... tell me a little bit about yourself. Make it believable.
I'm no scapegoat - I'm his associate - his only associate, and friend, whenever he doesn't test the absolute limits of my patience. We cover for each other, and we're concluding business as a duo, since handling substantial amounts of couriering contracts and requests as a single person can become pretty stressful pretty quickly. We're a two-in-one type of deal, odds are he would have brought me along if he was the one taking charge in this particular contract, but he's absolutely swamped right now due to a little problem that came up, which is why I'm being called up to take care of things.
If it will... help sate your curiosity and allow our transaction to proceed, I'm from Kusari, born and raised, and I had a career for Samura as part of their security division - but not the type of security in space, mind you. I renounced this kind of life to be a Zoner around the Omegas, something that certainly made me feel like much less of a watchdog and more of a human being. I continued my career, until I met Lazurith, who offered me more privileges and a paycheck we could reliably split together upon completing requests and stuff.
Don't worry. I know how to steer a freighter's worth of supplies in the right direction.
So a Corporate housedog tasted a bit of freedom and decided it wanted more. Better yet: you've wanted it so much that you've taken to the stars instead of looking for it in the streets of... my hunch says New Tokyo.
For what it's worth, I commend your courage in trying something new. Many like-minded individuals would find themselves in breach-of-contract lawsuits followed by public shaming and ridicule. A friend of mine says society is a lot more strict in Kusari than anywhere else.
Fine, I'm satisfied for now. You will get 100,000 Credits for delivering the goods to Omicron Delta. I don't care how you get your hands on the cargo as long as you get this done. Coordinates have been embedded in this message. You seem smart enough to know where to look.
Five hundred units of Rations from Stuttgart, shipment manifest name BX-CC5.
And five hundred units of... "assorted supermarket stuff and perishables", shipment manifest name... ah, who cares.
I'll make the two different deliveries on different times over to the same dropoff point. Deal?
Milk cartons, sausages, a ludicrous amount of assorted fruits and vegetables, ham, long-expiration date synthetic cheese, about sixty eggs or so, chicken, pork, ghuara, Houston cow beef and fish, and at least a hundred different refrigerated TV dinners for when you're in a rush. Among more things I didn't even go through, stuff I can't even list due to the sheer amount of variety I brought today.
You'll find a LOT of beans, along with many other packed legumes, as well as entire shelves worth of aluminum cans, including but not limited to sardines, Junyo desiccated muroa jerky, flour, Stuttgart corn starch, salt, sugar, assorted spices, cereal, oats, rice, honey, and several packs of instant noodles, which they ought to last you for well over a year if you're being fair in your own servings. Along with the pantry stuff and the several packages of thermal porkchop stew MREs I included as a treat, I definitely made plenty of room for space-ready food, such as granola and protein bars and other things you can consume safely during your missions, should your artificial gravity ever fail you while you're in space.
On an unrelated note, your cohorts already considered blowing up the first shipment.
Did they? Oh well - happens. It looks like you made it out in one piece, which means you did play nice and they liked you enough in turn. Most of them hate working with strangers to the extent they'd rather strip you of both loot and life at the same time, if it meant saving 5 minutes of back and forth chatter.
It wasn't personal for them, I'm sure. There's just a lot of bad blood with the outside world. At least you now understand my hesitation when I saw you had taken up the deal and not Lazurith. Some of them saw the twink every now and then, or at least shared overexaggerated rumors. But you? Nobody knows you for anything other than being just another target.
