Smoothbore will oversee the repair and recommission of ZETA Squadron assets ONE, TWO, and THREE. This project is marked as high priority.
Details
ZETA Squadron was stationed aboard HFB Incursus, and sustained considerable damage during the Battle of Magellan. ZETA TWO was dealt fatal damage and only recovered following the battle. Damaged sustained was not repaired, and vessels moved to temporary storage pending interment aboard Incursus for maintenance.
ZETA consists of three BDR F-8g 'Defender'-class VHFs of 'Guardian' configuration. Vessels were nominally equipped with a full compliment of 'Judgement'-type heavy plasma blasters in a 'shotgun' configuration.
Zeta One - 'Defender'-class Heavy Fighter
Flight leader, came back in one piece, though the systems got fried both during the fighting and when the blackout hit. Damn thing really did a number on our smaller stuff. Mostly electronics damage, though some of the thruster couplings are pretty degraded. Power problems as well, and I'm pretty sure the reactor's still juicing, so it's going to need a deeper look.

Zeta Two - 'Defender'-class Heavy Fighter
Only loss in that fight, came in battered to hell; Systems on the fritz, reactor straight won't power on, so any further diagnostics will need to wait until that's done before anything else can be checked. Plating seems to be pretty degraded, too, which is fair. Will have to check the stocks for replacements, which'll probably screw with the paint job. Oh well.

Zeta Three - 'Defender'-class Heavy Fighter
This one was troublesome. Hatch seized up after Ganler powered her off, and reignition wouldn't power the motors, so we had to pry the frame open with a multibar. Lehigh squadrons didn't give up, that's for sure. Will need to figure out exactly what happened; Still not 100% about what exactly went wrong. Probably another damaged transfer line.

The vessels have been moved aboard HFU Palmdale for repair and maintenance.
Equipment
Smoothbore will make use of the following task forces, vessels, equipment, special personnel and access codes:
ZETA ONE
ZETA TWO
ZETA THREE
HFU Palmdale

Always weird looking at one of these things that isn't Blackjack. I don't even snoop in on Freud's baby, this is that far out there.
First impressions don't offer much. One was the only member of the flight to make it back without much damage, if any at all.
Powering up takes a few tries, but when she does finally boot up, it seems to hit the OS charge and then kick off. Definitely feels like a safeguard kicking in, which is fine. Better the safeties take over than something else burn out.
A look over the rest of the ship doesn't show much, aside from the previously noted thruster couplings. Those should just need a replacement, which won't cost me anything but time and a few credits. Plenty of salvage to comb through on Invergordon.
Gonna keep looking into the reactor issue, but I get a feeling there's something else fried in there. Might need to take it apart somewhat, get my fingers in there.
West, out.

Yeah, so that figures.
Was able to crawl into the cargo hold without an issue. Defenders always have such snug interiors. God, I love these things. Gave me a good route to access the reactor, too, so points.
Pulled off that first panel and saw exactly what was wrong, too. Injector mount's seized, probably some more fucking blackout damage. Not a hard fix, but definitely annoying if it's more than just that. Knowing the blackout, probably going to be.
Upside is that all the rest of the cabling and pipage seems pretty well intact, so it should just be this. Maybe once I have a steady supply of native power, the computer can give me a little more context.
Guess we'll see.

Got a better look at the damage. Seizing's just the start of it, but it appears localized. The whole mechanism is completely static, though. Even risked some grays trying to remote start it so I could see with my own eyes. Nothing. Absolutely no movement. Not even the little flick of the nozzle popping.
Gave it a liberal dose of WD-40k, gonna let it soak for a bit before I head back in and risk another potential dosage, though maybe I'll let the bot handle it for me. If it does work, it'd be like nuking popcorn, and I'm not keen on being the synthcorn there.
Here's hoping, though. This one's already giving me Flush flashbacks.
Flushbacks.
God, I need to sleep more.
