Incoming Transmission

To: Bristol Construction
From: Friedrich Kruger, Unioner Diplomatic Ambassador
Subject: Logistics Request – Bulwark Engine Components

Guten Tag,

The Union is currently overseeing the refit and recommissioning of a Bulwark-class vessel operating out of the Zürich region. As part of this effort, we are seeking a dedicated shipment of engine components suitable for Bulwark-scale powerplants and thrust assemblies.

We would like to inquire whether Bristol Construction is willing and able to prepare and ship the following:

• One consolidated shipment of Bulwark-compatible engine components
• Components suitable for refurbishment, reinforcement, or partial replacement of an existing drive system

The Union will assume full responsibility for the escort and security of the shipment from the point of departure to the final delivery. Our crews are accustomed to running cover on high-value industrial cargo, and we will ensure the transport proceeds without incident.

If there are specific handling requirements, preferred routes, or conditions on your end, we are open to accommodating them. Pricing, schedules, and documentation can be discussed at your convenience through this channel.

We value Bristol’s reputation for solid workmanship and reliability. Should this delivery go smoothly, it may serve as the foundation for future industrial cooperation.

I look forward to your reply.

Mit Respekt,
Friedrich Kruger

A quem possa interessar,

My name is Pantalião Vascoguoncellos, Agent for Bristol C&M, and I will be taking over this communication.

Understand that I hold no interest against the Alster Union, nor any other group in Sirius. I stand for Bristol and Bristol alone.

You are currently undertaking the refit of a Bulwark-class Heavy Explorer, Senhor Kruger? I need more details than that. To my understanding, only two vessels were purchased by organizations in that region, of which would not be in great need to do business with the Alster Union rather than Bristol.

Tell me, then, who - because I know you are not commissioning it for yourselves - is wanting this vessel, and where did it come from?

Até a próxima.

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS

The Arbeiter is a highly modular very heavy fighter platform built entirely with domestic Rheinland technology.
Publicly, it stands as the cornerstone of the Union’s drive for independence from foreign spacecraft suppliers.

Implicitly, the Arbeiter represents a bold attempt to leapfrog both Hessian and Gas Miners Guild fighter programs.
Drawing from decades of accumulated shipbuilding talent and mechanical improvisation, the Unioners have produced a space superiority platform that reflects their unrelenting pragmatism — combining performance, molecularity, and survivability under hostile conditions.

There's fat on this bone

But it could work in your favour

He'll fill you in.

I'm only here to refresh memories and drop in the logs - fill those margins. You're right, Vascoguoncellos - It's exactly what you're suspecting.

As for where Flora's ship came from, there's a blurred line in that chain of events. We can't tell you, because we don't know.

What we do know, is that our client's still willing to pay for it, and we want Bristol to get your cut. You did build that ship, after all.

Over to you, Friedrich.

He'll give on an inkling of how this could work out in Bristol's favor. We've dredged up a few ideas, out of the recesses of our brain-wrinkles, over the last month.

From: Friedrich Kruger, Unioner Diplomatic Ambassador
Subject: Clarification – Bulwark Drive Module Request

Senhor Vascoguoncellos,

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate a direct question, and I will answer it just as directly.

The Bulwark in question is not being commissioned by the Union for Unioner service. This request is made on behalf of Flora, as discussed previously between your people and Gunda Riehl. I believe that context should already be familiar on your end.

To be precise, we are not seeking a full refit package, nor an entire vessel’s worth of machinery.

What we require is a single Bulwark-class drive module port or starboard suitable for integration into an existing propulsion assembly. One unit only. No more, no less.

The vessel itself is a Heavy Explorer that has seen hard years and harder routes. This is a matter of replacement and continuity, not expansion or new construction. The Union’s role here is logistical and protective, nothing beyond that.

There is, however, an additional consideration that may be of interest to Bristol.

Routing this component through Unioner hands offers Bristol a degree of discretion. Our involvement provides a layer of separation that allows your firm to fulfill an existing industrial obligation without drawing unnecessary attention or speculation about renewed external relationships. In short, it keeps your books clean, your reputation intact, and your delivery unquestioned.

We will, as stated before, provide full escort and cover for the shipment from departure to handover.

If this clarification satisfies your concerns, we are prepared to proceed immediately on timelines, pricing, and handling requirements.

I await your response.

Mit Respekt,
Friedrich Kruger

Prezado Sr. Kruger, Sr.ª Riehl,

I would recommend to you, Senhora Riehl, that you re-check the good Senhora Flora’s status as a member of the Gaians. I have it on good authority that she still is. Of course, I know that such people can be difficult to gain the truth from, and that her lack of forthcoming is by no means a demonstration of your own truthworthiness.

And so, you ask me to help you in getting the drive system for a Bulwark, for a Gaian. My superiors would no doubt look poorly on this - the Gaians attack Bristol ships for simply doing their common business, in New London, in Newcastle, in Manchester. They attack Bristol ships in Vespucci, too, on the seldom times we fly there. This is the main concern for the Bristol Board, not that the sale may yet be traced to Bristol, but that those radicals who would fly the ship we would help rebuild would use it against us. I think you understand the concern, no?

I think, I would need certain guarantees from this Senhora Flora, before moving forward in this project. As I understand it, she holds a certain sway in that movement, her words hold a certain amount of weight. The terms are simple - the Gaians will not attack Bristol vessels, not while we do our business in Bretonia, not while we do our business in the former worlds of the Commonwealth.

Deliver that, Senhor Kruger, and we’ll get on to the price of this drive system.

Second-hand couriers leave messages with room to swing...

...So we'd better pick one trajectory first.

We're linking Flora into this communique.

It's her spacecraft. We're only the craftsmen, not the client. All the better for Flo' to her piece from here on out.

Over to you, Flora.

Cc: Gunda Riehl, Flora
From: Friedrich Krüger
Subject: Clarification and Guarantees

Senhor Vascoguoncellos,

I appreciate the directness of your concerns, and I will respond with the same clarity.

First, let me be explicit the Unioners have no involvement in, nor influence over, any attacks conducted outside of Rheinland. We do not direct, encourage, or coordinate hostile actions in Bretonia, Vespucci, or elsewhere. Our word on this matter is firm. Where our remit ends, it ends cleanly.

Second, with regard to Bering specifically and Bristol operations therein you have our assurance that there will be no attacks originating from, encouraged by, or facilitated through Unioner. This assurance extends unconditionally. Even if individuals friendly to us were inclined otherwise, they would find no support, tolerance, or shelter from the Union. That includes Senhora Flora.

Which brings me to the heart of your concern.

Rather than speaking over her or attempting to frame her position on your behalf, we agree it is both proper and practical that Senhora Flora speaks to you directly. She will communicate with you herself, plainly and without intermediaries, so that any guarantees you require are given in her own words and understood without distortion.

Our interest here is narrow and professional the acquisition of a single Bulwark-compatible drive module and reactor, nothing more. Not escalation. Not entanglement. Not future leverage. We intend for this arrangement, if it proceeds, to be contained, discreet, and insulated from broader political currents.

If the assurances you seek must come from Flora directly, then that is how they shall be delivered. We will facilitate the channel and then step back.

I hope this clarifies our position and demonstrates good faith on our part. We are prepared to proceed carefully or not at all depending on where this dialogue leads.

Mister Vascoguoncellos.

I see you are very well informed of who I am, so I'll spare you the introductions. I also see our mutual friends from Pacifica have already brought you up to speed, which was very thoughtful of them. As was already said, I'm here because your requests seem to extend beyond what they can provide. Allow me to just get to it.

First, for Vespucci specifically, I'm surprised to hear your company still has business there. I'm also afraid there's nothing I can do for you on that front. You should inform your Board they should shutter their ventures in the system. Vespucci is nothing short of a warzone at the moment. Attacks and hijackings are pretty much a daily occurence. Security must be maintained. Accidents happen. I'd like to clarify this is a warning, not a threat. Keep your people out of the system, for their own sake. We don't have the luxury of being discerning out there.

As for the homeland. I have to say your claims here confuse me, Agent. The Gaians, at large, do not care for your company and we do not practice indiscriminate attacks the likes of Mollys are known for. We have bigger fish to fry, so to speak, both in Bretonia and the surrounding Independent Worlds. There are no reasons for any of our people to be giving you trouble, doubly so unprovoked.

But if you'd be so kind as to enlighten me about specific incidents, I'll look into it. I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to soothe any lingering resentment that might have caused you trouble.

Regards,
Flora

Prezado Sr. Kruger, Sr.ª Riehl, Sr.ª Flora,

I’m glad to hear that you have no interest in Bristol’s business, just as we have little interest in yours. Cada macaco no seu galho, they’d once say, and I think it applies well enough here. Keep to your business, Flora, and we’ll keep to ours, that’s more or less what I want. If anything were to happen, I’m sure we can give you a call, have a talk over how to fix things if they’re broken. Maybe even, perhaps, look into some gainful employment - Bristol’s competitors, they’re so messy, and I think you can agree that their ships look so much opened to space than otherwise. But that’s a thought for another day.

So, you want a drive system. That can be arranged. The issue is the fact that these systems are made per-ship, not stockpiled, so a few hands will need to be greased to make the whole matter seem…legitimate to prying eyes. The cost is 7.000.000 cr, to B|-BCV-Tumu-Ra’i-Fenua. The components will be delivered by a ship in the Bering area, the Tsushuma Maru. The captain is trustworthy.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Até a próxima.

Mister Vascoguoncellos.

I'm sure we'd be open to such arrangements in the future. Who knows, perhaps it could even evolve into a closer working relationship? And in the spirit of said relationship, I will forget you trying to pull Trafalgar's Goldern Special on me. Just this once.

What I need, specifically, is a replacement port engine and the primary reactor unit. Plus whatever extra parts and manuals Pacifica's engineers will need to perform the replacement. Simple spares, I'm sure a shipment wouldn't raise any eyebrows. I can put forward three and a half million. And a favour for later use, as a little extra.

How about that?

Regards,
Flora
