Has it crossed your mind that maybe people spending more time staring at livestreams in a voice room on Discord rather than playing games together makes no sense? And that Discord has been designed throughout the last years to manipulate people routines and siphon as much of their free time so they spend it doing nothing important on Discord rather than, for example, playing games or doing something else to distract yourself or be productive?
The culture on Discord is the worst thing Discord has and it's something completely out of a social engineering psyop, because it revolves around trying to keep you hooked into the platform as much as possible so you feed their servers with more data, data that they need to make profits as that's their business model. If people spends less time on Discord, that's less time you're printing money for them, and they don't want that, that's why Discord has been trying hard to be an "everything app" and it's why rich pigs like Elon Musk are so obsessed with programs that can do everything, because that way no matter what source of dopamine your brain demands, they can provide.
Lol, I didn't comment on whether or not I think it's a good or bad thing because I ultimately think it's irrelevant. You're not going to get people to go back to IRC and relinquish features even if it those features are (and I am not saying they are, or not), meticulously engineered brainrot.

The problem with a lot of Discord replacements is the lack of adequate community management tools. Federated platforms in particular often suffer from this, with poor content removal and moderation options.
I think if we're going to migrate across to a new platform (and it is looking increasingly inevitable that this will eventually happen if Discord carries on as it is), we'd ideally want:
- Channels / groups, and role based permissions.
- Persistent chat history.
- Voice chat and streaming.
- Robust moderation tools, including bans, mutes, slowmodes, etc.
- Extremely low barriers to entry for non-tech savvy users
- Ideally integrated spambot detection.
- Ideally calendar integration for events and announcements.
Probably more stuff, but the first 5 would seem to be essentials.

I have made a Stoat. It is Weapon#2465, feel free to add me.
Like I've proven to you on a live example - this isn't going to work for a good chunk of the community. Sure, it'd let me register but I couldn't even send a friend request. Now I'll endeavor to find a way to delete my account in this clique of racist pricks.
it's really not that big of a deal, it's not like you lose total access to discord, you are only going to lose access to NSFW content and stages. calm tf down

Stoat appears to already have or be working on all of this, but as @Nika pointed out, it appears to be firewalled in Russia.

Teamspeak? We used that before when we were all on skype, seems to have updated quite a bit in recent years.

we all know this push towards identification, is and never will be for "child protection", its about governmental control of the population.
It doesnt matter if its the us, uk or eu. they all want the same thing and any company that exists in these regions WILL be forced to comply with there regulations.
the questions is not if, its when this will happen. whatever programm you pick will inevidibly forced to comply with those regualtions or they can pack there stuff up and head out.
sadly thats the world we life in.
pretty much this
also teamspeak collects your data too, as will any other platform. and i'm going to get polticial here and warn you all that governments are still going after you.
you're supposed to be fighting the government regulations here. not just the corporates. USA gov has already been getting data off of social medias including discord to track people who merely critizes ice.
the internet (and the world imo) is going to get so much more evil if no one protests. gestapo type shit. we're genuinely in the worst timeline.
also like geno said, if u dont want to verify your account (you can literally use the face poser too in gmod to bypass using a real face ffs lol) - you're only missing out on NSFW marked channels and stages. you'd still be able to use discord as normal.
