For the attention of the chiefs on Bristol Bay Station.

From our review of the prior year's attempted allied coordination channel, it appears to us you've got an interest in the continued survival of the Erie resistance forces here in Pennsylvania. Right good news, to us, and reason to get acquainted.

For as long as secrecy stays our lifeblood, I identify as Bowman. The cell I coordinate on Planet Erie's surface has come into a relatively secure base of operations for now, from which we're able to make contact. Our hard influence in Militant affairs pales next to Graham's station with its pivotal role in supply distribution, but we've been keeping tabs on the wider state of the conflict.

What we take notice of is that the left hand can scarcely talk to the right throughout this revolt. I want to set that ship right, and doing this demands clear lines of communication. That includes to you.

I'm looking to grasp the extent of your support to Milford or any other Erie Militant forces, and what you'd hope for this support to accomplish in the long term. Some fighters want a sovereign homeworld, some just want to make bluebell blood flow. For what reason do you take the risk, undermining the occupation?

Indulge me that, and I'll count myself a potential customer regarding your starship expertise.

If a more discreet means of contact is necessary given the situation, we've an agent in space able to rendezvous for this matter. Inform us and I'll dispatch her.

“Bowman”,

We have kept eyes on Pennsylvania and Erie. Liberty’s expansion into the system was not correct, and remains against workers, the people, and the system as a whole. Those on Erie do not want to be under Liberty occupation, and their practical sovereignty is worked against constantly. It is for this reason that we give aid.

In our eyes, that future holds Pennsylvania to be a Liberty patrolled system - there is no scenario where Liberty ceases that - but Erie would gain self-governance of one form or another. We want what is right for Erie, for the fallen of Pinnacle, but we also want a prolonged peace in Pennsylvania. The system cannot fight against the house, not unless what is desired is another Dublin, of generations of blood lost again and again. This is not our way.

As to our aid to the Milford Cooperatives, we adhere to the agreements made there. We supply information, supplies to the edge of the Meadville field, and ships from the Erie civilian market for their use.

Does that answer your questions, “Bowman”?

It does, handily.

Whoever's still bothering to call themselves a Zoner in the cities here hopes for much the same. It's optimistic, to put it lightly. For me, this world is an adopted home, but I know the men and women I'm responsible for.

They've no intention of accepting a peace with compromises favorable to Liberty. The Protectorate Treaty was tossed into the dirt when it was no longer convenient for the House, and it's properly soured them on that notion. We'll see the system's confederal self-rule returned to it with Liberty soundly withdrawn, or we'll all of us find our place in the ground. Many've been driven further, but in the interest of cohesion, I try to keep my lot out of rank-and-file political squabbling with the House dissolutionists and anarchists in the movement.

I would relish putting this bloody war behind me and getting back to retirement, but until Liberty acknowledges its mistake - or is forced to - any false peace'll be impossible to swallow. For now, though, we're all pushing this ram towards the same gate. Allowing the good Governor Davis to proceed with his rubber-stamped assimilation policy is unacceptable, and so we're maneuvering to make ourselves an obstacle to just that.

Seeing as we share outlooks -- broadly enough, anyhow -- I've two lines of inquiry:

  1. I'm looking to acquire an extrasolar supply vessel for our cell, and a Series DL-A "Armadillo" would suit this role. Is it possible to acquire a ship of that make from your company quietly? I'm able to arrange for our agent to make the purchase under an alias, but the less trail created here, the better.

  2. Said agent has identified a station, Sunset Bay Complex, in vicinity of Dudley operating Bristol transponders. A captain of one of their ships claims his employer to explicitly be a Libertonian-based company, affiliated with your own. A "Manhattan Spacecrafts Design Bureau". See attached.

As you're no doubt aware, Libertonian commerce are priority targets for Erie Militant raiders, but I refuse to advocate for any strikes here before running it by your desk first. Is this company a component of your wider operations? The name implies they're Manhattan-based, and frankly, the prices on these ship designs are exorbitant. I'd rather like to lodge a complaint.

“Bowman”,

Acknowledged to all.

Shame to hear on yours. If your goal was achieved, then Pennsylvania would be forever in your debt. We are glad to hear on your pruning efforts.

We are aware of Governor Davis. His removal would not be unwelcome by many in Pennsylvania.

To your two points.
  1. Yes. Transfer of 130.000 cr would be needed for that acquisition, but that can be done quietly enough. You can expect to find one at Bethlehem Station.
  2. We operate Cleveland Station only in Pennsylvania. That installation, and its operators, have not contacted us on any account. That vessel is not on any of our registries.

Do with that information what you will.

We will be watching. We will be listening.

Now that's some useful news.

I'll see about getting an able crew raised, then have them shuttled to the station by freighter. They and the pilot will handle the purchase on arrival. Expect a "Theresa Rubble". Freshly-built or otherwise, as long as the serial codes are scrubbed and manufacturing methods aren't an easy trace, it'll do well if we're ever forced to scuttle her.

As for Dudley, Sunset Bay and its Manhattanite operators may notice a marked increase in customer complaints before too long.

Cheers for the aid. We'll be in touch.

Out.

Attention. This is Bowman, message follows.

My thanks for the line on the available transport. Our crew arrived yesterday to exchange the credits and take possession. We've got her blessed with a new name and all. Glad to have her.

With that in mind, I've been asked by an associate of mine to keep eyes open for shipyards capable of servicing an old Pilgrim Liner discreetly. They're working with faulty reactor shielding, spontaneous depressurization of crew compartments, obsolete power plant as well as engines... it's a wonder the ship hasn't killed them yet, really. It's still flying off of patch jobs, but without time in drydock I believe it'll fail them soon enough.

As you produce a notorious vessel of similar size, I thought to enquire. Are you capable of taking on the task of refitting such a ship at your facility?

If so, I can pass on word. They've money enough from their work to pay well, as he told me. If their ship was in a better state, it'd bode well for the long-term logistics situation in our system.

“Bowman”,

I see.

Akutan Production Facility will have the capabilities to service such a vessel. That type would not raise too many questions. Just keep your IFF flickering for anyone watching and we can put any irregularities to the faulty reactor.

I’ll send word on their arrival.

We will be watching. We will be listening.

Received and understood.

I'll fill in the captain and recommend he reach out to you to initiate any arrangements for specialty work. He's certainly not one of mine - I'm reaching out as a favor to him, and to help keep things tidy out in the movement. "Knightfall" is how he identifies himself, so expect any contact to occur from under that name.

Much appreciated. Let me know if we can do you a good turn for your efforts.

“Bowman”,

The vessel has arrived at our facilities in Bering and is currently undergoing repairs. You did not understate its condition. Current estimates hold the vessel to be ready within the month, with costs rising steadily. The Board has ordered that the actual cost for your associate be kept at a minimum, however. I expect the repair work to be, as a whole, a loss.

Does your movement require logistical support before that time?

We will be watching. We will be listening.

Acknowledged. Pass on my regards. We'll all be glad to have the utility of a functioning friendly Pilgrim in-system.

For the time being, Group Clarion's supply situation on the ground is stable with the transport provided, the Leatherwood. Our needs may expand soon. We're drafting a new strategy to leverage this run of luck towards making a dent in the enemy's work, but there's negotiating to be done there.

If I was to go on wishing for miracles? A reliable line on Bretonian military equipment of the sort used during the war - personal armor, vehicles, specialized tools or attachments. We're flush with small arms of all kinds, but rifles alone don't make armies. I understand this may not be reasonable to ask of your company, but if you can recommend potential contacts, we'll follow up.

Your company's specialty in facility construction is something that may turn heads on Pinnacle Station, but I'll know more in that regard when I next make the trip.

Does Bristol policy permit informing us of the loss you're expecting to take on servicing that liner by any chance?
