Okay, I never thought I'd ask this question, but I'll give it a try.
I kindly ask the staff to move this thread in right section if anything goes wrong.
Long story short, I've encountered a contradiction that's either halting all my work or threatening to create an unprecedented number of gaps and problems in the future. Kotya and I already discussed this on Discord, and he said everything is fine and I have nothing to worry about, but I'm consumed with doubt. Maybe things aren't as bad as I think, and I'm just worrying unnecessarily.
So, what was I talking about...
Basically, as I mentioned here, work on the faction within the Order continues. I'm already in the home stretch, but there's one catch.
My faction requires a battleship at the start. And that's where the fun begins. I've mentioned this ship more than once already. Yes, it exists, it's present, and it's assumed there will be some kind of RP around it.
The problem is just the fact of its existence. It won't be created during the existence of the faction or reserved for any Order|. It exists, but according to its backstory, it requires major repairs. Gameplay-wise, it won't appear in space until we finish the RP with it.
Like, how do you feel about factions that have capital assets from the start? Doesn't that seem far-fetched? Should we then revisit the entire previous lore and polish it, or move on with what we have? Maybe I'm just worrying unnecessarily? This thought has been bothering me for about a week, if not two, and that's why I'm here.

Let's just say I see this option as more, uh... credible than if there was something already in place.
Like, you could believe that a newly formed division of one of the well-known Houses has some kind of capital asset. Well, they can afford it, let's be honest.
It's a different matter if I create a faction, say that it already has a battleship, and... Well, that doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Especially if we are talking about the Order. Maybe I'm just worrying and winding myself up unnecessarily.

Whatever our opinions are on the existence of the Order stronghold in Mu and the gigantic Fort Carthage / Capital Yards, they're there and have been for a long time now.
I think that's reason enough to justify to pretty much all of us that your faction / division would have a battleship as its command element to start with, unless you personally had the desire to start smaller than that. If you want to do so to chart the gradual growth of the faction, yeah that's a cool angle and go for it.
Having to repair the ship already has that essence about it, though, and none of us would blink if it was a pristine fresh-off-the-line Osiris anyway. I'm of the belief that it's alright, pal.

Love your mindset, though.
My concern is more likely due to the fact that I've already written a lot of stuff. Osiris has appeared before, but he was more of an RP story element and only really showed up on the eve of this event. Just once.
From a narrative perspective, we settled on the idea that the ship does indeed exist, but it's in such poor condition that its appearance is usually accompanied by some significant event. That event was one of them.
And given the scale of what I'm planning, this little detail could become the Achilles' heel of the narrative. It seems like everything's there, it seems like there's a story, it seems like the appearance of such a large ship is nothing new.
But damn...

Well, the answer to this is generally "no, it doesn't seem far fetched" as long as the ID supports it I think, but it is certainly a very welcome roleplay attitude to think about how your faction supports and runs such large ships.
But, are you actually more worried over the fact that it's supposedly so damaged, it's going to slow down your narrative plans?
That sounds like you'll have to come up with some compromise and situation that will satisfy you, as the writer. I will say that this ship getting an expanded bit of story to it is a worthy pursuit, since you've already had it as a centerpiece before.
You ultimately decide what that looks like on your end. I'm sure it'll be fine.
I would argue that, especially for a faction that explains having multiple player factions as different independent cells, its completely reasonable to have a flagship to operate from. If you’re worried about ‘not putting in effort’ then just start off with a repair event, perfect excuse to reach out and introduce yourself to the rest of Order and its allies. Go nuts bud
