What?
OF Requirements Parts I and II:

Official Factions must have at least 3 active members. Active members are players who log at least 1 hour of activity per month on their own personal ship.
Official Factions must have a designated Official Faction Leader who is an active member.
Once again, Nodoka, a request to be monitored for eligibility =/= already being official. This application period exists for this very reason among others as detailed by the new system. You're missing a crucial step here and I feel your frustration is clouding your understanding of that fact.
Whilst I firmly stand by my statements and my belief that GMG| is in no position to be an official faction, I have retracted my prior statement here to keep the peace.

My apologies for my misconstrueing of the system.
That being said, If this is the case, then this is GMG|'s golden hour to prove me and so many others wrong.

Sorry, used to seeing this sort of request posted following the period of action as an unofficial group, followed by a long period of the group performing while they're assessed by moderation - which normally, as far as I've seen for some groups, has taken long enough that the group has taken the foot off the gas a little as far as any sort of excitement-induced activity over becoming OF has created, and settled into some sort of day-to-day hum-drum. I expected some form of statement or direction along with the request, as far as intended changes towards what is essentially retainment of OFdom for GMG.
I do look forward to those changes, though, all things considered, and look forward to what I expect to see greater activity in-game and on the forums for GMG.

This.
This, combined with the barely altered faction status, are the two things that give me a lot of pause. As per @Greed, there are no criteria for posting an officialdom request and very strong arguments can be made for none existing, but you're already off on a bad foot not having just taken the time to appear in game and strut your stuff prior to doing what essentially amounts to mashing the respawn button. Yick.
It's not a good look when a faction trying to earn official status back doesn't address some pretty basic and real concerns that the community has. Furthermore, part of the reason GMG is in this position in the first place is from a lack of community involvement. Letting communications go a week or more without a response at the very start is not a good sign.
I'm convinced this is just a troll attempt which is sad since I thought the loss of official faction status would have woken certain people up.

It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.

I have to concur on this, and I've felt this way about it since word go, and for good reason. It feels to me like Meph is just taking the piss. The GMG doesn't answer communiques, doesn't engage with the wider community, and only logs usually enough to keep up appearances, all the while Mort's offshoot has been running events, responding to comms and being in game on a regular basis for mining and the sort.
Were it not for likely not (yet) meeting OF prerequisites, they'd be a shoe-in for Officialdom.
Meanwhile we've got the polar opposite here that sits on its' ass, and expects to be able to hold claim over a good chunk of the Sirius Sector because they've been here for ages.
I'm gonna say it here, because at this point in my time in Disco, I'm almost out of fucks to give:
