My Good Doctor Painkiller!

I welcome you into the service of the Mother Goddess and hope that much pain will indeed be felt by those that desecrate Gaia!

Mount up and fly!

Dr.Dread here *waves*

I have to say the RP involved in this faction is incredible! The reaction we get when we say "Gaia's blessings" is hilarious. Anyone thinking of joining? Well dooooo it! It's made the traders of ore and miners *spits on them* think a lot more where they go to mine, what route to take. Sometimes we get called tree huggers? I'm not quite sure why that nick name or perhaps insult but I like it. It gives the feeling that we are trying to eradicate mining and pollution from Sirius a stupid idea and people think we are insane!

Great faction overall and I've been in it for a day. Highly recommending this faction to anyone. Sometimes logging a ship in a specific faction can be a task however this is not the case here!

Many thanks on our first expedition Pel and Highland Laddie (Doctors Venture and Disaster) Kudos to all involved with the RP!

Way to preach it, Dr.Dread!

We are indeed, all about the RP, and I enjoyed flying with you and Dr.Venture. Kudos back to you for being a good sport and cutting a fine figure as a Doctor!

I miss my time with the Doctors...

I realize, in retrospect, that a distinctive mindset is required to truly thrive in such a faction. Doctors would benefit from an "audition" of sorts.

That being said, each faction exists within a "faction ecosystem" and I can see that I was a bit tone deaf about that. I might take the "deranged ecological inquisitor" bit a little too strongly, while the silly fashion blunders and visions of ta-tas in space are just as significant.

In sum, it takes a village and I did not understand how to build that village. Not at all.... Still don't.

Most of the things that make DGC tick are of little interest to me (POBs, economy balancing, non-Vanilla factions, slow-mo forum RP) but I want to figure things out better this time.

I don't know what's going on in the server these days, but theoretically, if I were to be part of an anti-mining faction I should be in communication with the active mining faction players (so that we can cooperatively RP, rather than just being a noxious thorn).

I have RPed convoys and mining, even some Liberty police roles, so I'm not completely clueless. However, I vastly prefer the zany agnostic zealotry of the Gaian Doctor.

My biggest reservation is I do not know many of you. I never really cared to before. But some of you have been around for years, so maybe I'll try that this time.

Who knows?

Lol, yes! I'm a weirdo.

I think that's what it takes sometimes.

It has been a long time. Many have forgotten the Doctors.

I want to create a primer of sorts-- what is a Gaian Doctor and why do they make you so nervous? Is it the fetching pinstripes on their lab coat, the emerald gleam of their goggles or that manic, ear-to-ear smile?

Most Gaians are concerned with ecology but in a "sane" sort of way. Things like lobbying, protest, regulation. This thread by @Lochrath is a good place to see that POV: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...tid=193861

The Doctors don't concern themselves with the "system"-- individuals are meaningless when you zoom out to the scale of Gaia (and so are the societies those individuals create). They are not activists, they are not hippies, they don't care for communes, they are something more clinical and terrifying-- they are Ecological Inquisitors.

The three doctrines are:

1. The universality of the "Mother Beast"-- her tissue makes up all of Sirius (in ways we cannot comprehend). We dare not presume to hear Her voice. The Silence of Gaia frees us from moral hesitation. The Mother's health is all that matters. Action is everything (pure, ADHD, ricocheting, careening doctoring). Everything carved from the goddess flesh is a twisted substance and fair game for our crazed form of emergency medicine.

2. As a specialized immune system for Gaia Herself, our ranks and roles are more medical than military: Our Surgeons are our Strike pilots (tasked with the amputation of mining vessels), our Virologists are Infiltrators and spies (they analyze faction politics and House economies to find the most efficient vectors for infection of silly human infrastructure). Our Nurses are in charge of Reclamation and Logistics-- they staff our labs, engineer innovations and dispatch orderlies to clean up the messes Doctors inevitably leave behind.

3. We embrace the paradox of being part of the problem by focusing on scrap to build our laboratories and ships. We are analog and old-school which makes us both inefficient and endlessly innovative. We exalt Junkers as holy scavengers but will quickly turn on them if they violate our obscure principles. Our alliances are fickle (silly humans). Our only lasting allegiance is to Gaia.

In a place such as Sirius, where a faction is often defined by their resource extraction and political maneuvering, the Doctors naturally stand out as refined, dangerous intellectuals.

We care not even for our lives, but only the advancement of our knowledge of Gaia and how to heal Her.

We are Divine Surgeons. Our ultimate goals is not merely to heal Gaia of our harms, but to modify the guest (humans) to fit the host rather than mutilating the host to suit the guest.

This is an inversion of the idea of "terraforming" a planet to "sirioforming" a species.

This is not a fight over territory or philosophy-- this is a struggle between human parasitism and the possibility of systemic symbiosis.

We will probably die in the struggle, (like any white blood cell attacking the infection)-- that is perfectly fine!

Conare bene vestitus mori.

Enough of this nonsense! My wits are so frayed from all that "bleep, bloop" that I can't gather my thoughts...

That was a lot of blinking lights just to say, "Hello!" I'm back from the wilds. I hope the biometric scanner caught my good side; it would be a shame to waste such a coordinated effort on a poor profile.

I shall be transmitting my research findings shortly. They were certainly worth the considerable risk to life and limb.

We are all Gaia's children (and children are like crazy, drunken, small people in your house)!
