The Tau Lead

I hope you had safe and uneventful return to Islay.

I do not like wasting anyone’s time while with idle talk while on official business so I will get to the point. Here’s the data on the ‘Tau lead’ we have mentioned before. More precise survey data will be sent to your servers with this transmission. The Order fulfils its obligations to its allies.

initial survey of Tau-61 Star Syste Wrote:Tau-61 A - Magnetar
The primary gravitational anchor and heaviest heavenly body in system. Source of all gravitational anomalies and gravity well for sensor blocking nebulae that prevent thorough external observation from outside the system. Named "Achlys" for future reference.
Tau-61 B - F4 Class Star
Tau-61 B I - Ourea
Rogue frozen world is tied most gravitationally to the second heaviest star in-system.
Tau-61 C - O1 Class Star

Tau-61 I - Erebus
Erebus is the system’s sole gas giant, as well as the only planet with potentially the only stable orbit.

Tartarus
Volcanic moon of no particular value.
Apeiron
Marked as potential terraforming candidate after initial survey. Long term prospects unknown due to three-body problem of Tau-61’s trinary star system and Nomad presence in-system. Of potential interest to the Nomads (or their infected hosts) due to easily accessible thermal energy.
Hypnos
Barren ice moon inhospitable to any life

Tau-61 II - Pontus
Frozen world. Due to its unstable orbit, it is unknown whether it will be ejected from the system to become a rogue planet.

Entry to the system is located in sector C3, Orkney. Precise co-ordinates and phase alignment data will be attached. The Gallics remain for the time being unaware of the existence of this system, though given its location it may not remain so forever. The Order keeps its operations low profile to keep undesirable ‘tourists’ from accidentally becoming new Nomad thralls. As the newest member of the Protocol, we entrust Gaians with this knowledge so that you may be fully aware of the scope of the threat we face.

The vast majority of the system is covered by nebulae that conveniently shield it from outside sensors and why we had not been able to explore the system in full. Coupled with resistance from Nomads and their slaves, progress is slow at best of times. The entire system is choke full of gravitational tideforces that can slow even the most powerful engines, further complicating any attempts to locate potential bases of operations or another jumphole. That said, we had found none so far and if this is the truth of it, we have found without a doubt the Nomad stronghold we’ve been looking for ever since they played their card during the Orkney incident. Containment protocol is priority for all Order forces in Tau cluster. Kirkwall is the nearest allied base, though due to the nature of Westray (And Sisterton battlecruiser guarding The Causeway) it may be more desirable to split defensive and offensive operations between Kirkwall and potential forward operation base somewhere within Gallia proper respectively.

Nomad forces had been spotted operating in and around the system hampering our efforts to find their base of operations. Due to the presence of dense, sensor blocking nebulas, any of the three major clouds could hide a Nomad installation (possibly a hive) or at very least a Nomad warfleet in waiting. It is commonly known in scientific communities that Nomads harness energy from sunlight and radiation commonly deadly to humankind. Tau-61 with its neutron star, radioactive stellar remnants and two highly energetic stars offers plenty of both. More so than any other system anywhere in the Tau cluster.

Jump Drive supressor

Second thing, you are already aware we’re working on counter to Kishiro jump drives. Gaians are men and women of action but notably you always had scientists in your ranks. Not only that, you keep a pulse on the intelligentsia of Cambridge via Green Front. Anyone with specialty in hyperspace you can recruit to this cause will be of invaluable aid. I understand that particularly civilian researchers will object to being shipped to a dark hole of Omicrons to work for a clandestine group such as ours, so working remotely with your movement will likely be a preferable settlement. Of course you will not be alone with this. If there’s a way for us to help with this effort on your end, speak up.

Sinclair Protocol

Third and finally, a ‘pet project’ of mine I have labelled as ‘Albion’, to essentially create a Cell within your borders without drawing extra attention of BIS, BAF and police constabulary. For that purpose, I want to enact the next step in integration of Sinclair Protocol though stationing Order operatives on Gaian installations posing as locals. It should not be a surprise that an unlawful will garner less interest from powers that be if its not a foreign operative equipped with equipment associated with The Order or other perceived external threat. There are few ideas circulating in the Admiralty. One of the more promising ones however requires your explicit consent and co-operation. I could theoretically have them pose as a destitute Gaian splinter group operating run of the mill CTE’s with weaponry commonly available to just about any civilian in Bretonia. Their effectiveness would increase however if they could use actual quality hardware that your movement has developed over the decades.

With that I also understand nothing comes free, and The Order is particularly fond of deals that benefit both sides of the equation. I expect no handouts and that you will want something in return. Neither Gaians nor Order have infinite resources. If there’s something *particular* you want, The Order admiralty surely can arrange for something. The extent of this deal lies entirely with you.

Admiral.

First off, allow me to thank you for the intel provided here. I can't say much right away other than that it seems to be quite exhaustive. We'll need some time to go through it and verify.

As for your other points, in order. It just so happens I sent a request for information to Admiral Solandros today. I suspect it'll hit your desk soon enough. The University of Skye operates a mostly well staffed and well equipped Faculty of Astrophysics. They have been hard at work studying the data from the Nyodo leak, as well as our own observation of the Somerset's and the Haruna's Jump Bridge operations. However, so far, we don't have much beyond a few crackpot theories to investigate. I'm sure they'd love it if you could provide them with more insight into the puzzle. It'll certainly make them more willing to share notes.

Now for your pet project, Admiral. It's certainly an interesting idea, but we both know it raises plenty of questions. First and foremost, our mandates do not exactly align. We have different policies, objectives, different ways of doing things. Much as you and I might share a more direct approach to problem solving, the wider Gaian movement does not. I'd like to know the type of assignments you'd have in mind for the cell. I am not opposed to it, of course. But if the others are to be convinced, we'll have to iron out some guidelines beforehand.

Let me know.

Regards,
Flora
