I gasped and covered the wound with the bedsheets. A nurse heard the screams and came running in quickly.
"What happ-"
"-you, shut up, get me gause."
"You're not-"
"-I could give a flying carcasses ass who I am, now get me some fracking GAUSE!"
The nurse pulled the cart out and I began padding the wound and stopping the bleeding, but it continued.
"100mm of Closite"
"100mm of Closite, here" said the nurse, I quickly injected it into the IV and the wound began to clot with blood. I let go and sighed. "How did you know how to save him?" asked the nurse.
"Four weeks, Blood Dragon training...get the doctor, make sure he's ok."
The nurse nodded and ran off to find a doctor, in the back of my mind I heard a whisper...
"...you will work just find my dear."
I shook my head and looked back to Joshua who was staring blankly at the ceiling and then to me. He gulped slightly and then stared back at the ceiling.
"I can't tell you anymore."
"But-"
"Find the Dragon's Bane Shan. Just find it, after you do, all this will be over..."
He gave me a look, I knew what that look meant...find it...
Everything was dark. A void, stretching as far as you could see. No stars. No air. No dust. Nothing. And there i stood. And there he was. Floating, with a face as pale as the stars. A cloack, as dark as midnight's untamed beauty. An evil grin, from ear to ear.
"-Can't just leave me alone can you?" I said.
He grinned again.
"-Your far too valuable for me to just throw away." He said with a voice as hollow as the universe.
"-Aaah, so that's why you tried to kill me just now. Too bad i wasn't alone hu."
"-Ignorant mortal." He said with a raising tone.
A chill went across my spine. A chill in the void.
"-After all these years, your still defiant. After all this torturing, your tongue has not dared to move. My patience grows thin, Joshua."
"-Your too late. It's time is up. Desia's mistake will be corrected." I said with a powerfull tone.
"-Ah yes..The mortal woman, right? Quite a fiesty one. Took me a while to get into her mind. "
He turned around. Blending in with the darkness.
"-I wonder what will happen to her..Don't you?"
I went silent, and felt a sickening sensation in my guts.
"-Yes. Quite the thing, isn't she? "
"-You harm her.." I said. " You harm her, and by Vesavo..I swear.."
"-Swear what, little mortal? You'll kill me? Destroy me? You do not wield such power, nor will you ever!"
He turned around, firing some form of energy at me. I feel down onto the non-existant floor of the void.
"-I swear.." I said while climbing up. "I WILL weild it.."
I awoke in my bed again. With one word ringing through my head.
I walked past the rows of unhealthy people. Hospitals always made me sick...reminded me of Leo for some reason. I never figured out why. He had been gone for so long now, almost a year and a half...and I still missed him. But everyone was right, Gwen too, even Kasumi was right...
He was gone, and there was nothing I could have done, not even the second time. He died twice to save me, and the second time...the second time...I found myself crying as I walked. I shook the tears away and kept walking. Slowly my resolve came back and I walked to the bathroom, dried my tears and stared at myself in the mirror.
23 years old, and still crying. Look what I had been reduced to...a bubbling, crying, infant. I had to find that resolve I used to have before I met Leo...but he...removed that from me the second he died, the second he met me...
"...needs you..."
"Who's there?" I said looking around...
"...valuable...need..."
"I need some fresh air..."
"Stop."
My body wouldn't obey my commands.
"What the hell..."
Darkness swirled around me in the room and I was submerged in darkness...a cloaked figure stood in front of me.
"You will get it." he said, his voice reaking of evil.
"You will find I do not listen to orders...you will find I disobey them on a regular basis."
"Then you defy a god..."
"You are no god...you wish you were a god..."
"SILENCE!" he said pointing a shadowed finger at me. My mouth would no longer obey me, but it would in terms of smiling. "Wipe that smile off your face mortal. You will get the Dragon's Bane for me...
"...or Joshua dies."
I was thrown out of the shadow and into the bathroom wall and I looked up to what had just happened. Whatever was there was gone. The tile that I had flown into was shattered and broken, a dent was in the wall where I was just thrown. I stumbled to my feet, holding on to the wall as I did so. The only thing I could think of was getting that damned crystal and smashing it with my ships weapons, but something lingered at the back of my mind...
"...or Joshua dies."
"That will not happen." I said stomping off towards my ship. It's time I did a little reasearch on the Five and Two, and found out which god might help me...or at least gave me a hint.
"-Shan. Shan! Wait up!" I yelled across the corridor
"-Hmm? What? Oh great, it's you."
"-Oh come on, don't be like that. Mind if i asked you something?" Gabriella said
"-Well, make it quick. I'm in a hurry."
"-Any news on my father? I came down from Malta as quick as i could, but the nurses won't let me near him."
Silence struck.
"-Shan?"
"-Er, uhm, yeah. He's going to be fine. Now, i have to keep going. Bye Gabriella"
Gabriella grabbed her arm.
"-Let go of me you little brat!"
"-Shan, the truth. I have a right to know, he's my father!" She yelled
"-By Elona, you never do shutup do you. Fine. Here's what's going on..."
...
....
.....
Gabriella collapsed, crying to the floor.
"-By Preto! Get up!" Shan said with a tone of disgust.
"-I..I..I'm sorry alright! You'll have to forgive me for caring over my own father."
...WOTCH..
Shan slapped Gabriella right in the face.
"-Now you listen to me, and you listen closely! You think your the only one who cares for your father?! Well do you?! Stop being so selfish! Do you want to help me save him, or do you want for him to be torn up like a rag doll!?"
"-..Iah..Ofcourse i'll help! What's the..Plan?" Gabriella said calmly
"-Ryuku base. Archives. That's the plan. We need to do abit of God digging"
"Oh for...oh, Kasumi...what's up?" I replied noticing it was the other daughter.
"Nothing, just trying to figure out what's up with my father. He going to be ok?"
"If we figure out how to stop those damned gods, yes."
"Gab...what are you doing here? Don't you have some innocent people to feed?" Kasumi said with a smile.
"Ha-ha-ha, I'll have you know those people needed my help."
Kasumi grew silent and supressed the obvious desire to laugh but looked back at me with tears of laughter swelling up in her eyes.
"Kas..."
"Can't..."
"Kas" I said again boldly, but it was no use, she fell to the ground laughing, Gab's cheeks turned red and she turned away.
"Oh lord, now I have two girls with me...lets get out of here before I kill you both." I said and climbed into the ship and slid it closed. The ships engines ignited and took off out of Kyoto, Gab and Kas right behind me.
"-Here you are Lady Katachuchi. The oldest part of our archives is just through that door. Good luck in your search" The old priest said as he walked away.
Shan opend the huge wooden door, followed by gazing upon a huge room filled with dust and old books.
"-Things are never easy, are they.." She sighed. "Right Kas, Gabs. Get to it. Look for something, anything that might help us."
"Nothing. I'm still looking though!" replied Gabs.
"Kas?" I yelled.
"More stupid books over here!" she replied with an attitude. "I hate books!"
"Well keep looking at the stupid books!" Gabs yelled.
"What's the matter, you against violence to books too?!"
"Both of you shut up and keep looking!" I screamed.
I reached for a very old book and pulled it down. I heard whispers around me and before I knew it a blonde woman was standing next to me, watching everything that I did. I yelped and dropped the book, staring at her. She smiled, reached down to the book and placed it in my hands. She didn't say a word, but patted my hand gently and winked. In a flash of light she vanished.
"...Puria." I said with a dazed look. I opened the book quickly and began to thumb through it, looking for any kind of information that would help me...that's when I got to the part about Satha.
"God of pain and suffering, 'The Hand' is known for his attempts at corrupting the world of the mortals and using them for his plots. Many times he tricks men into becoming his faithful followers, and those who disobey are tortured and killed by his powerful magicks. He is known for his..." I paused at the next part and nodded my head, "He is known for his continued plots to obtain and hold 'The Dragon's Bane'...guys I found what we needed!"
We met up out in the main reading area and I re-read the paragraph I had found. Kas got a strange look on her face.
"What?" I asked.
"Well, not to burst your bubble there Kat, but that only explains what Satha is, it doesn't tell us how to stop him." she said.
"-..Hey, what the.." Shan said with scaresly when the book disappeared from the desk.
A small giggling could be heard in the distance. Constantly swapping directions. Gabriella smiled, and out of nowhere, a woman appeared. A woman as beautyfull as a spring morning. Fair blonde hair, a skin made of silk, and eyes as blue as a clear sky.
"-Gabsy! It's been to long dear! Come and give me a hug!" She said
Gabriella ran towards her, huging the woman. Shan and Kas just stared, jaws open. The book popped back unto the table.
"-Hey! And i see you got some friends over! Why don't you introduce them?"
"-Shan, Kasumi. This, is what we need, this is Puria!" Gabs said with a cheerfull voice
"-W-w...H-i." Shan mutterd with a staring Kasumi next to her. "And..Your..A god..ess..?"
"-Hmm, well, i prefer your realm over our void. Far more fun! So Gabsy, what can i help you with today?"
"-You remember Joshua i take it? My-" "-OUR Father." Kasumi interupted.
"-Yes, our father. You remember him?"
"-Ofcourse i do! He wasn't in an all too good mood last we met though. But that's him, i guess. Why? Anything wrong?"
"-Let me explain, Gaby" Shan said.
And so she did. Almost 15 minutes passed before they we're done telling the goddess about Joshua's fate.
"-Hmmm. That sounds pretty bad!" She said while appearing ontop of one of the tall bookcases. "So, that old Satha wants the Bane? Even after all these years? Oh mother, i told you this was only going to bring more chaos onto the world." She mumbled to herself.
"-Then you know what it's capable of doing? " Gabriella asked
"-Hmm. Yes, quite. It's already been misused once. In our realm. It's what turned everything into the void. Doesn't hold much power here though i believe. Well then, what's your plan?"
"-Well, save him! Or atleast try to ofcourse." Shan yelled
Puria giggled, and floated down from the closet. Drifting towards shan.
"-I see two out of the three here having a reason to save our dear Josh. So, i wonder, what's yours? Hmm?" She said playfully. "Don't awnser that! It's a fun thing, looking into peoples souls. Comes with being a fiver i guess! Well, i'd suggest you "read" abit further! Who knows, might find something usefull." She winked, then disappeared.
Kasumi opened the book again.
"..No..Not this...Nup...Nope...No-Wait." She started reading. " Though the Five and Two cannot be vanquished by mortals, power equal to that of a god or goddess can be weilded through amulets."
"-Like the Bane." Shan said
"-Yes. Like the bane." She continued reading. While Kasumi kept on reading, Puria appeared infront of Shan. Out of sight from the others. She kissed her on the forehead, and pointed at her pocket. Something was in it.
I felt my pocket...it was warm. When I looked back up to question her, she was gone. I looked back to Kasumi who was still reading with Gabs listening. I reached into the pocket and felt a tremendious shock from the amulet. I yelped and my implants turned on by themselves. I started cursing as I held my hand but looked at the amulet. I was glowing blue and red at the same time...it was an indescribable sight.
"Where did you get that?" Gabs said reaching for it, but I pulled it back.
"Puria..." Kasumi said looking around. "...what is this?"
No answer.
"You really think she would tell us?" I asked looking at the necklace with my implants on. Not even they could make heads or tails as to what it was, they kept telling me "unknown, unknown" over and over again. I placed it back in my pocket and tried shutting off the implants, but they wouldn't do what I told them to, they stayed on. "Great."
"What?" Gabs asked as I walked towards the entrance.
"The damned implants won't shut off."
"The necklace?" Kas asked.
"More than likely...oh well, I can see better in this mode anyway, lets just get back to-"
The station rocked and alarms sounded. I looked at the others and ran out into the hallway. Kusari Naval Forces were attacking the station from Tekagi's Arch. I ran into the control room and everyone stood up at my entrance.
"Lady Katacuchi! KNF are attacking!" said someone in front.
"Thanks for the information, I see that myself. Return fire, full spread."
"Yes Sensai, firing full spread."
Two of the ships backed off, but one managed to dock with the station.
"Kasumi, Gabs, you two stay here and monitor the situation in here, I have work to do." I said running towards the docking clamps that were now disengaging...
"-Don't care, can't be botherd. " I said while putting on my flight jacket "-I'll be in my quarters. Should i die, i'll make sure to let you know." I said as i walked out of the med bay.
I walked into my quarters, and lay down on the sofa next to the window. My head banged like a war drum.
"-Ouf! Pur! Get offa me!" Puria appeared right on my waist. Her golden hair hanging right above my face.
"-I'm just fine here." She said while holding me down. "Hah. Your as weak as a little boy, you know that?"
"-I blame the neck."
"-Hihi, sure you do. You know who i just met?" She said with an innocent smile. "Your two girls! And annother beautifull lady. Katacuchi, rings a bell?"
"-W-w, what? Where, when?"
"-Just now. Their at Ryuku currently. The archives. Figthing your battle silly!"
"-My battle?" I mutterd.
"-Yes! You know! The bane and all that! Your death, Satha's reign, bla bla bla. All too serious if you ask me! The station's under attack by those...Uhm, how do you call'm? Kusari naval horses?"
"-The KNF! Pur, get off me! I godda go help them out!"
"-Not before i get my kiss!" She said smiling
I kissed her on the cheek and headed for the landing pad. Not 2 minutes later was i in Tohoku, with Ryuku in sight.
