I think that if any faction deserves it's own NPC tag, it's the SCRA/Coalition. And it makes more sense for them than for just about any other player faction.

Ok, well, to continue here. I'm putting my last post from that thread here.

Quote:
Quote:Think of the Coalition as nomads with pink faces and a repetiore of terrible jokes.
These are your words and this sentence is the exact reason why I can't see the Order being neutral to you.

And don't take my questions as a firefight, I'm nearly asking questions.
If you'd like, we can continue this in the feedback thread.

Koolmo :

Quote:I meant in terms of being a force that isn't fighting a personal war, or really trying to gain anything. They don't WANT to shoot the military, or the police. They're doing it to save the people from themselves. It was meant to illustrate the point that they cannot be bought off or convinced to hold a ceasefire, because this is the equivilant of a crusade for them, it's their only purpose for being.

And yes, this might be better off in feedback..

Alright, but now goes the other issue. You are friendly/allied to the Phantoms.
How can that help in your relations with the Order?
You are hostile to Corsairs, their allies, and you are friendly to Phantoms, their enemies.
In your diplomacy, it states -friendly-.

Also, don't you think that the Order would try to stop you, knowing what the war did to humanity back on earth?
I don't think they'd be very fond of you, they came with the alliance as well.

Alright, good work, I saw you doing the research. Here goes...

That friendliness to the Phantoms is a Convenience, and, assuming we get our own tag, will drop to neutrality, I suspect. The main reasons for friendliess to the Phantoms are that they both provide an excellent distraction from our own activities, and that they're a reliable, if evil and insane, military force that could have been called on in times of need. Now that the Coalition is expanding, it is debated whether we need to associate ourselves with such monsters any longer. However, it may be decided that the final victory is a long way in coming, and that the soldiers of the revolution will have to put up with such monsters yet. Remember that McIntosh is absolutely insane, as well. He might think the Phantoms are find and dandy people, and that we'll keep working with them

And you also have a point about the Order. We'd hope that they'd continue to fight the loney war to the north against the Nomad threat, but who knows? If the leadership of the Order decided that, no, The Coalition are too much of a threat, then I'm sure we'll be hostile to them. If, however, they decide that don't really have a chance and they'd like to use us much as we use the Phantoms, all fine and well.

Essentially, the diplomacy for us is still written from the PoV from the Houses that the Coalition is not a major threat, so The Order are content to let us piddle around down south and occasionally wack some nomads, and the other houses just fight us off when they come to us. However, with a change from a small band of revolutionaries to a demi-house, the attitudes of people in high places will likely begin to change, I'm sure.

And, I really need to go to sleep. Post a rebuttal if you'd like, but I likely won't be reading it until this time tommorow. G'night.

Being the Vice Admiral of The Order (or Black Squadron, for that matter), I'm going to say we keep SCRA on neutral, because we're only out there trying to protect humanity from the Nomads. It is the primary reason we exist as a whole. We knew of the Nomads before the rest of the Houses did, and we're out to stop them, and mainly them. The Bounty Hunters only see us as hostile because of Liberty wanting to remove us from taking out their infested forces. We gave the Coalition (before my time, I guess) the Osiris class battleships in exchange for protection against the Nomads when they're nearby. I have no reasons to see them as hostile forces to The Order. We fight our battles against the Nomads to save humanity, Coalition or not (in my point of view, of course).

Unless they see us as potential targets, I will regard them as neutral forces roaming about doing what they do. They pose no threat right now to an organisation that's just trying to make sure we're not all infested with the jellies.

Well yes, this is a question for both Bs and SCRA, it's not your burden entirely.
Since you dwell in Omegas, I can see them using you for fighting against Wilde, but that's not described anywhere.
If it was a reason, I'd be fine with it.

But all in all, the Order shouldn't be friendly with you, as you are also a threat to humanity as much as Phantoms are.

i wrote it in the NPC request thread already - but here goes again:

- i m not really in favour of the simple "we hate you, we kill you" factions. - true roleplay is more political and diplomatic. - a faction so short on followers would be stupid to simply go on a killing spree - cause they would be crushed dead within a matter of days in a state of warfare ( if they wouldn t miraculously respawn )

what i miss is a political ambition and structure. - if the coalition really craved for power in sirius, they should make active use of the factions that can provide them with power. - as an underground network, there are the junkers and prolly the hackers. - they could also have a look at the mollys who managed to rise from an unlawful seperatist faction to a ( soon ) established lawful faction - not by fighting blindly, but by forging diplomatic channels.

if the coalitions goal was to establish a "house" realm, they must do it on another level than warfare. - they are not many, but i d like to see them execute diplomatic missions etc. - they are at a clear disadvantage to the current lawfuls, as the coallition has nothing to offer, - so they have to start low and make friends.

most of all, the ID gotto change so it allows them to ally with other factions and maybe loose the terrorist status. - but if you WANT to be terrorists, i see no future for the faction other than a simple pvp faction with little to more more ambitions than to "kill everything that moves".

Being a terrorist faction doesn't exclude RP, in some ways it liberates it. The SCRA are political extremist with a self righteous attitude, we perceive ourselfs in character as the saviours of humanity here to liberate the misguided from their Alliance oppressors. But we're also a smaller force, and that limits the combat styles that would prevail.

Likewise, if you go into the history of the Coalition during the war in Sol you'll find them to be brutal, the opening sequence of Starlancer features the Coalition massacring the survivors of the French and Italians fleets even. Simply because ruthless violence is a large part of the cultural and political demographic shouldn't be considered as a clause stating that they can do nothing but PvP if their ID allows that, give a little credit to the faction members.

the problem is that a terrorist ID disallows allies.
