Right, this is the second time an Order ship come to Crete to talk loud to a Corsair (myself). Now, what is that supposed to mean? Last time I checked, if a gringo goes to a bad neighborhood dissing the locals, he's as good as dead. So, what is it? Are the Corsairs over here sissies or ruthless pirates?
I'm just trying to understand the little dynamics here. I've stopped a pirate transport, Pirate ID, no IFF, carrying Deuterium. The guy refused to pay, I opened fire, he managed to get away. Fair game. Then an Order ship shows up in Crete saying I was crazy because I had just pirated a Corsair ship. Not only that, the guy came talking back at me threatening me (not my character) with reports and talking out of character about me being out of role play.
I'm posting this out of curiosity, because to me it seems that Order ships have complete clearance to talk loud in Crete as they please. Not only that, this is the n-eth time I have an alleged "Corsair player" try and evade me pirating them by saying their grandma have a Corsair character. Then, when I ignore their out of character claims, I have this out of character idiotic bullying bullcrap thrown at me over the freaking Corsair homeworld.
This is not a rant, I've just solved the issue in game with the Order pilot the way I understand is totally in character for a true bandit. What I really want is to have this cleared, because if this is the assumed natural routine over here, it's time for me to try the next game.
You fell victim to the phenomenon called "OOC rules lawyering". You did good by attacking the guy, and if the transport had pirate ID and no tag you had full right to it too.
Case in point, he was in the wrong to even come back to you with his OORP grudge. I bet that if there was a TBH player in the system at the time, they would help your case no doubt.
If you stop someone flying a pirate ship (Pirate Transport, Pirate Train, properly-IDed Border Worlds Transport), ask where they're going first. If they say one of your bases, "offer" to "escort" them - by which I of course mean follow closely and make sure he doesn't divert from his stated course.
Same if they have a Smuggler ID. A Pirate ID on a transport is unusual, though, especially when it's not actually being used for piracy.
It'll save a lot of frustration, and does actually make a bit more sense if you stop to think about it.
EDIT: That said, I do not disagree with you shooting the guy. He had it coming.
Who call Conan a sissy! Conan cut out their throat and stick it up their...
//seriously if you have screenshots, Report him. You have every right to destroy him if he didn't pay the tax. Who knows he could have been working for the outcasts. However I like the idea of funding out where he was bringing the stuff to first.
This happens a lot, sadly. However, we're here to have fun, and we stand by these unflinching rules: first, no pirating smugglers with artifacts, second, no pirating people carrying food to Crete, and third, everyone else is fair game. Whine all you want, switch to an Order or Zoner fighter and come looking for revenge (which happens more than you'd think), threaten with sanctions - it won't change. As I firmly believe: if the trader's not spitting mad, I'm not doing my job. All of this helps show me that I'm doing right.

The Order are Corsair allies, and as such, they have certain leeway - that doesnt give them the right to come into Corsair space and trash talk you - there is such a thing as respect? Yes its earned, sometimes by just being there, other times by fear, intimidation and occasionally making someone suck vacuum.
You did the right thing as everyone as said attacking the trader - It doesnt matter who your other character is, they are seperate people in the game (unless otherwise Role Played) and its at your discretion as to how you treat them.
With rules lawyering - it's actually sanctionable as far as i know - so let them lawyers, screen shot it and write a report, that might stop their legal jousting.....
I'v seen an Order Osiris issuing orders around to Corsairs. Playing a Crete cop I guess.
I told 'im to shut up as his orders were confronting Corsair official orders.
And he has no authority in Gamma.
He then started saying how we'r allies blablablabla. I didn't care.
Few more TBH came on, and they supported me, we told him to get lost to Minor.
And I expect the same from Bs to do with Corsairs misbehaving in Minor.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
