This mod is currently under construction. We are starting off with Discovery 4.84. We give all credit to the original makers of the Discovery Mod. We plan to add new systems, ships, bases, factions, ect to the mod. This mod will be an RP/PVP mod but RP will not be enforced. More information will be added later by the head admin Kratos_Aurion. I am the co-admin of this server.

Note: This server is not 24/7 due to inability to run a 24/7 server. We are trying to gain the equipment and knowledge to run a 24/7 server

Unless I'm mistaken the Discovery readme already explicitly states that you cannot use Discovery as a basis for another mod, period.

So it seems you gents may be out of luck.

Note for mod makers: if you use any parts of Discovery mod that were created by other modders (as listed in the Credits section), you'll need to ask their permission for using their work, models in particular. Using original Discovery files and code made by me does not require a permission, but don't forget about credits.

As Igiss said in the readme. Note, pieces made by him don't require permission. Only credits. But since 50% of Discovery is made by indipendant modders, your gonna need to ask alot of permission. And then i'd still ask Igiss, only to be polite.

I diddnt think it was required to get permission to run an unnoficial mod..... there are tons of servers in this same forum that are using the discovery mod and noone is telling them to get permission... so why is ours any different

That is why... You are modifying and adding to the mod, which would require permission from everybody that Igiss gives credit to.

Good luck with getting all the permission, and with the expansion to the mod.

I can give such permission, and even delegate permissions from other modders (if they are not against, in which case you'll have to remove their content from the mod). Conditions are the following (it's only a shortlist, there are some more details to take into account):

1) You need permission from the mod creator;
2) Mod is used only on one server and distributed within one community;
3) Mod documentation includes main credits from the original;
4) In the start of documents, it must be noted that mod is based off Discovery, and version of Discovery which it's based upon;
5) Original readme must be included into the mod package as original_readme.txt.
6) Ship modellers retain right to ask for removal of their ships from the package;
7) New mod must contain "Discovery" as part of its name.
8) Any files that are included into Discovery can be modified and included into the new package (if all of the above conditions are followed), except for readme_original.txt and ship models.
