*After a brief flickering of static, a stout man with a grey beard and shaggy hair appears on the screen, a leather jacket and torn jeans as his attire*

"This damn thing on? Alright..."

The man clears his throat.

"This is Christopher Thorn, head of the Junker's Union of Rheinland. I dont expect every one of us out there keeps up with the times so I'll lay it straight off the bat;

The Junker's Union has slowly grown within rheinland over the past several months. We started out as nothing more than a gang of unorganized scrap collectors at Bornholme Depot, but since then we've become a true corporate and political force within Rheinland and it's borderworld territories.

Now, we're what you might call modern day 'treasure hunters' out here. There's hundreds of years worth of wreckage just waiting to be found and claimed; everythin' from old Rheinland Military craft to derelict transports full of the richest commodities credits can buy.

Thing is, we're still shorthanded. Bornholme has undergone drastic changes since our rise, and we've had to get rid of plenty-a junkers and non-junkers alike out here who didnt want to follow protocol; thus creatin' a hazardous environment for the rest of us salvagers. Yanagi has lost dozens to senseless attacks from the bounty hunter's guild and the wild, while kreuzberg has fallen into a state of disrepair due to poor maintenance by it's original crews - which, of course, have now been replaced.

Now, the point I'm gettin at is this: you can make a killin out here. One lucky find and you're a millionaire, and you can make a decent livin worthy 'o any junker just off the scraps floatin around in this part-a space. We've got a good understandin with the local lawful and criminal forces alike that keeps our salvage ops well protected and our members well respected.

If yer one o' them smugglin folk, or a no-good scoundrel pilot flyin falsely under the junker name, we dont want ya. In fact, I catch any of ya doin' that crap down here and I'll shoot ya myself - but if yer lookin for honest work and the opportunity to strike it rich, the Junker's Union has a spot and a CSV just waiting for you to step up.

Now, at the bottom 'o yer screen here you'll see a commlink ID, that there goes to my personal ship - the Union Midgard. Have ya any interest in signin up, just send me a message tellin a little 'bout yerself and what yer lookin to find out here, and I'll get ya hooked up right away.

Christopher Thorn, Signing off."

*The screen flickers to static once more before showing the next message*

Congratulations on the commission of a fully Junker news service! At last all of Sirius can hear the truth and only the truth--and the truth shall set them free!

From: Yanagi Abjudicator Green Hawk
Location: Yanagi Depot, Sigma 13
To: All Sigma 13 visitors, pirates and other pilots.

Laddies and gentle pilots, It has came under our attention that the area around Yanagi depot is very hazardus for all pilots operating there. Wildes are pouring out of the New Berlin jump hole and uncharted radioactive waste left behind by the war. Last but not least Hydrogen gases fill the system and sometimes pocket of dense gas explode. Many ships have been uncovered, blown to bitts in this area. Therefor under careful consideration and sound reasoning I declare all space west of Helgoland space station, south from the New Berlin jump hole and north of the Frankfurt jump hole as Junker territory.

All ships operating within this area will need to be liscenced so we can keep track of their locations and rescue pilots in case the worse happens. Three basic liscences will be issued at Yanagi:
-limited pass, most useful to traders just passing throu. This type of liscence will cost you 20k per each unit of cargo capacity. This covers the basic locating beacon and a free salvage operation in case your ship gets wrecked. Under this liscence you are not allowed to stay in the area for a prelonged ammount of time.
-extended pass, most useful for pirates operating within the area and other pilots who expect to remain there for extended periods of time. Advanced telemitry will be instaled on your ship for a resonable price depending on your ship size, pertaining your hull mass mostly. A typical fighter/freighter pilot should expect a price in the region of 1M credits, heavier capital ships will have to pay much more due to hazardus conditions in wich a posible salvage would be carried out.
-V.I.P. pass, this pass cannot be bought and will be issued to most important visitors of Yanagi. Very special care will be taken to insure recepients of this pass their safety within the territory.

Passes expire after 24 hours, but can be bought for extended periods.

Attention Junker pilots, installment of the new safety equipment and posible salvage operations will be free of charge for all Junkers. It is quite clear we will take care of our own and you can expect salvage to be free of charge. You are automaticly liscenced and are expected to send visitors to Yanagi, to get their equipment and liscences.

There will be a special storage room on Yanagi where liscences and before mentioned equipment will be sold. All who would like to accuire them contact me, via Yanagi private message network.

Well said Adjudicator Green Hawk!

The Congress supports your action and realizes that the incidents of piracy, bounty hunting, trading and combat have become overwhelming to the station. This should make things much more manageable so that Yanagi can continue to be an open base for all.

If there are questions or concerns, please contact the adjudicatror...he has the full support of the Congress in this.

In addition...

Please be aware all new pilots that Rochester Base in New York will be buying scrap metal at a premium price as we have an increased demand lately for these resources.

With all the high powered aggression in Sirius, the Junkers of the Junker Congress are doing this to help the "little guys" who so often are stepped on by the giants. Look for the .:j:. ship "The Scrap Hauler" if you would like to assist with salvage in the New Jersey debris field

Happy hauling!

Incoming Transmission

Source: Yanagi Depot
Sender: Eugene Delacroix
Topic: Junker aggression at Yanagi.

Greetings gentlemen.

Earlier this day an incident happened where I myself mistakenly participated in it. But to cut a long story short...

I was returning to Yanagi after traversing half of Sirius, looking for parts for outfitting my Collector. As I had just closed in Yanagi, I got an Outcast destroyer class vessel, Casa.de.OsoRojo and a Junker affiliated Zoner destroyer, Old_Steel. I positioned myself close to Yanagi, in close proximity to the Outcast, the destroyer being 2 or 3K away. The Old_Steel, apparently had some jury-rigged battleship-class sensor system.

The Outcast vessel's captain said something about the scanner. Old_Steel did not reply. A couple of seconds later, I see shots flying in space, the two vessels exchanging fire. Baffled, I engaged the Outcast, fire for some seconds, then I stop my attack, ordering both ships to stop firing on each other and explain their actions. No reply came from either ship, so I continued my attack. In the end, the Outcast ship fell, my added firepower being the deciding factor of that engagement's outcome.

After formally asking Old_Steel about what happened, I got no reply. I contacted the Outcast's escape pod, and he claimed Old_Steel fired first. I compiled telemetry data captured by my ship and also salvaged a storage unit from the Outcast's ship wreckage, and early analysis of energy patterns show that indeed Old_Steel fired first, as the Outcast claimed.

What is a Zoner destroyer doing protecting a relatively safe station (despite surges of aggression by extremists), and what is the reason for attacking a ship having no history of aggression near our station (at least that what I can gather from the files I am cleared to access).

I am requesting a formal investigation on the matter by anyone having jurisdiction over Yanagi.

P.S.: I have no real love for the Outcasts, but remember that distribution of Cardamine and relative paraphernalia brings quite a bit of income. I, for once, do not want that to change because of the actions of a potentially renegade vessel.

Signed,
Eugene Delacroix.

I will look into the incident though it would be nice to hear all sides of it. Absolutely we have good dealings with the Outcasts---but our bases are our bases and must be respected.

We have had predatory Blood Dragons and a smaller number of Outcasts attacking Junkers near the base or attempting to pirate them at Yanagi and of course we have acted to stop this.

This may have been one such incident and I will await contact from the other parties involved. It does need to be understood by all that Junkers have protection at Yanagi and should not be molested there.

**Incoming Open Transmission**
Comm ID - Colonel Picaroon Diablo of the Shadow Outcast Brigade
Target ID - Junkers Congress, Junker News Network, Open broadcast to all

Transmission Begins

Greetings Allied Junkers,

I am Colonel Picaroon Diablo, Commander of the Shadow Outcast Brigade. I am sending this open, non-encrypted transmission to inform you of our up coming actions in the Sigma 13 area around Yanagi Station.
S.O.B. does not recognize any authority of a supposed former Corsair in regards to the policing or controlling of the space surrounding Yanagi Station.
GreenHawk has fired on & destroyed some of my contracted cardamine freighters, which results in profit loss for both of us in the longrun. He has also destroyed one of my weapon transport ships costing my brigade even more money.
Therefore, The SOB has moved a task force to Sigma 13 & will be patrolling around the Yanagi Station area as well as the entire system.
We will respectively stay 8k away from Yanagi unless in pursuit of GreenHawk, his followers or random Corsair scum & Bounty Hunters.
We will also agree not to fire on Harvesters in area UNLESS we are fired upon.
As we do value our neutrality with the Junker Congress, we will assure their safe passage through any blockades we set up & no Junker tagged & ID'd ship shall be fired on unless in self defense.

We will also be having allied ships assisting us with this removal of the Corsair Pirate Scum that are also highly offended that the Congress would allow one faction to take control over Junker holdings & possibly upsetting the balance of our neutrality.

We are not sure as to how long we will be running this operation. But we will be here until either a Junker is appointed over Yanagi or GreenHawk is dead.

Respectively,
Col. Diablo
Commander, SOB
