The Air was sweet that evening on Malta, the ocean was washing onto the shores, and the Sun was setting to the west. Kristy was standing on the balcony over looking the vast ocean in her back yard.

She could shake the fealing that something was goin on, but with her ship in need of repairs, and not willing to trust any others she was grounded. Sipping her wine she continuely looked up to the Sky, the occasional fighter or smuggler leaving for Orbit where all she saw.

" Lady Pryde, is there anything else I can get for you? " and man in a elderly man in a black suit asked from the door way. " No Ian, Im fine, but thankyou anyways." She smiled and turned back.

" Ohh, the crews down in the hanger say they'll have your ship ready in a few days. " he finished

Not bloody fast enough....

As soon as the door was closed there was a cold wind. she knew that fealing, she couldn't see them, but she new they where there." What have you found out whats going on out there Mestalious? No words came only a chorus of strange sounds...

And soon there was nothing, all was quiet again. She sipped her wine again and looked to the sky. " Thank you old freind.", there was no reply.

DarkStar leaned back in his chair.
"This particular operation is quite simple. Lure these Ghosts into the open, hit them with the Inferno's, and then land a raiding team inside. Quickly, of course. Now for bait..."
He smiled a mysterious smile.
"Leave that to me. The rest of you will be in charge of boarding that ship as soon as Crystal has hit it. We won't have long because, as you have no doubt guessed, these ships will dissapear the first chance they get.
"Any questions? No? Good. We'll be springing this tomorrow, so you have 24 hours to prepare."
DarkStar stood to leave and prepare the ship to move out.
"Oh, and one more thing... Rememper to back a mask and dress warmly. It's cold out there."
The doors wooshed closed behind him.

A light spran to life on the arm of Darkstar's captain's chair on the bridge. He hit the key next to it and a image of Raf'el came upon his screen.

Raf'el: Sir, there is one major flaw in our plan. I have been reviewing reports on sightings of these ships. It won't matter if we get a boarding team aboard. As soon as it vanishes the bodies of those who were inside are left sitting out in space. Ship leaves, but somehow leaves bodies of people who had been inside the ship. As soon as it takes off the bodies are still sitting there exactly where they had been when the ship was there. I think we should send me in there with a space suit. If it takes off without me, I'll stay alive in space with that suit on. I'll be trying to find out as much as I can before it takes off. Perhaps give the suit an electric breaker, so we can continually fire our infernos on it to keep it stunned. That will give me more time to work.

Raf'el waited for Darkstar's reply.

Luciaden thought as he opened the door to his office aboard the Ableben, that his recon scouts had finally spotted another ship. But it turned out to be a different ship than what he was suspecting.

One Hacker Spyglass in Unknown. Several picket fighters in Unknown, various types. One Battlestar I with no IDD transponder or identity marks and names on its side. Suspected to be Phantom Battlestar Oblivion.

Will continue to watch this group until ordered otherwise.

Luciaden tapped a few keys on the board. Using a batch delete command, he set the start date of the file deletion, and set the end date of the file purge at the same time, down to the second. This would send a copy of the file under a major encryption to every Admiral and Vice Admiral in the fleet. It would also delete every evidence of the file ever being in the database or being sent. As far as a computer was concerned it never existed.

Virus frowned at the screen. Ra'fel had left, he quite liked it without him. Ignoring him he began to speak, "Will we be using the Oblivion with our much loved Crystal Oni?" He said this as he knew the AI on board would be listening. Might at well please the robot, he thought to himself. "And I'll have the fighters brought out here as soon as we are finished."

While he had the recon ships with their Enhanced sensor pods clamped on their bottum watch the ships, Luciaden began collecting an attack fleet. These Recon ship's sensor pods were the size of one of the Spyglass' engines and were very powerful, outdistancing any standard shipboard sensors.


The Ableben, Zoner Juggernaut carrying the Suicide Kings.
The Caedo, a Outcast Dreadnaught.
The Sigtryggr, a Liberty Cruiser, recently repaired from an encounter with an alien ship.
The Leviathen, a Liberty Dreadnought commanded by Admiral Alpha.
2 Lottatore carriers, carrying one hundred Eagle fighters and one hundred missile fighters, Eagles converted to carry 6 missiles instead of guns. Which could either be use to cripple a capital ship with a bombardment by several fighters firing all missile tubes at once. Some fighters with missiles designed to track other fighters, and others meant to cause major shield damage, used to take out a capship's shield and opening it up to attack by a capship or hull damaging missile fighters.
And 2 boarding ships. Full of Marines.

They had moved around almost the entire fleet to cover the tracks of those ships being collected for the assault.

DarkStar smiled. "Well, you'll have to be quick about it, won't you? And even if it does get away, we'll just have to think of another trap. I doubt it will be very hard. Since it does leave the bodies inside, I repeat my last of dressing warmly and carrying an oxygen mask. That way even if you fail you won't die."
He shrugged and walked away. "As I said, you have 24 hours to plan the boarding of whatever ship we catch."

DarkStar walked to the bridge. "I take it our... guests have arrived?"
The sensors officer stood. "Yes sir. Exactly as you predicted. We're picking up the Ableben, the Caedo, the Sigtryggr, the Leviathen, two Lottatore carriers, two boarding craft, and a slew of those fighters equipped with the sensor pods."
"My my..." DarkStar mused. "They really are making a serious attempt here. To bad we'll have to deny them that."

A ring of microscopic spy satalites, each about the size of a pea, littered the ring around Alpha Unknown's only star. They transmitted on a special band, that even if picked up would only display useless white noise. Unless, of course, one knew the pattern. Someone like an AI. An AI like Crystal Oni. The undetectible spy sats lay in wait, unblinking eyes looking in all directions. The massive AW fleet might not have known it, but they had been detected as soon as they started looking for the Phantoms. It didn't help that the Nomads were also keeping an eye on those same AW ships.

He walked over to the communications officer. "Open a tachyon channel, wave 14, encryption omega."
"Aye sir." The officer pressed keys on the console, and soon enough the screen read 'Link Established'
DarkStar leaned towards the mic. "You may begin at any time now."
A stange hissing came out... the Nomads vocal language. Although they mainly used telepathy to communicate, their spoken was just as hard to crack. The hissing has slight variations only highly trained people could hear, and their poetic way of speaking often hid subtle meanings. None of which is of any interest, at the moment.

Two things happened at once. One, Nomads started springing up from nowhere around the AW fleet. A huge number. Battleships, gunboats, fighters, unbeleivably gargantuan ammounts. The AW soon found themselfs on the deffensive as they were pummeled on all sides.

The second was a massive energy spike around the area of the Battlestar and the Spyglass. A rift in time and space opened up, a phenomina known to humans as a hypergate. The fighters docked with the larger ships in order to travel though. Anything less then a cruiser would be litteraly shaken to peices and ripped appart in hyperspace, and gunboats would take heavy damage. Thus, the two battleships slid forward and vanished from that plane of existance. Only to re-enter the plane at a different point.

The Nomads turned off the containments and the gate collapsed. Nothing could bring it back, and no trace was possible. The only things in Alpha Unknown now were the AW, the still unnoticed spy sats, and the ever growing number of Nomads drawn to the promise of dead humans.

DarkStar shook off the migrane that occompanied hypertransit. It was temporary, but anyone coming though spent at least a little time recovering from hopping planes. Both the Oblivion and the Hellbound now sat above the Nomad center of power in Sirius. It was the exact location as before, only this time the Nomads concentrated on holding it. They had managed to get the hypergate shut off, but were devostated after it. As such, much of the resulting time for the Nomads was spent in reconstruction the outer defences and main city. With those secure, they now turned to plotting. To be breif, and to get on with the main plot, they were plotting new ideas, but nothing had come of it yet.

Suffice to say, even if anyone knew where the Oblivion and Hellbound had gone, it would be nigh impossible to get them out. The Dyson Sphere kept everything out, and the single access point was heavily guarded, and would now only open on the command of the city within the sphere.

DarkStar spoke aloud. "I assume we now owe you something."
No, human. It was we who owed you.
DarkStar smiled. "So we are even then, and i'll have to think of something else for you to help me again."
Correct. You helped our brothers in the confinement of the CRI sleep chambers, and so we have aided in your escape. For us to do this again, however, you will have to perform another act for us.
DarkStar shrugged. "I'm sure i'll find something."
We have no doubt. The Nomads finished speaking and left the strange humans to their own devices.

Smiling Darkstar, sat up from his chair, looking out the Main View of the Bridge, other than the nomads, the sphere was quiet. Though he couldn't help senseing he was being watched.

As he scanned the Area, something caught his eye, a blur, or what he thought was a blur. Looked smaller than a thumbnail on the viewer, and it seemed noone else noticed it.

" Center the Monitor in Grid twenty five by twelve. " the officer did as he was told, and a few seconds later it was centered, the young ensign looked puzzeled, to him there was nothing there.

But to Darkstar, he noticed it more now. " Magnification times five " doing as he was told, the huge Viewscreen zoomed to the center to five times magnification, and now the bridge crew noticed it, a blurred shape, infront a small cloud of nebula gasses, most people wouldn't have even noticed it. One crewman spoke " What is that? ".

" Change spectrums, Ultraviolot, X-ray lets see if its a trick, or something real " the ensign cycled through visual modes, all came up with nothing, Until they reaced Infrared. Revealing a Large black creature hovering, watching...



" What is that Thing, it looks, horrible " the ensign said quietly. As the crew looked on, the ship just sat there, Idle watching the Oblivion and its Armada.

" Lord Darkstar, I think you'll want to here this is coming from that ship in one of the lower radio bands. " The Communications officer flipped a few switchs and transfered radio to the speakers...

He Had heard It before, when he heard the nomads speak, but this, this was more sinister in nature. He just staired as sounds continued.

" Whats it communicating with? " there was a pause, then he spoke up. " Its transmitting it through a near bye jumphole, I can't get a fix on a destination though....."

Who, and what was it, and where in the hell did it come from...

Glock growled. This was not his idea of an enlightening day. Standing watch had no
slaughter involved. The re-arming comm. received direct from Crystal-Oni had caused
a slight ruffle to his calm exterior. It was sorted out now. Stone had made his cash again.
If it wasn't for his usefullness, that human would be long dead.
"I'm in position now, all unnecessary systems are shut down. All power has been shifted
to sensor arrays, and all those useless droids are offline."
Apart from his course breathng, no other sound could be heard.
"What now brother ? Our Lord Darkstar has been a little economical with the facts concerning
our pupose here."
The Osiris sat absolutely motionless in space, most of the main control panel was dim.
Just the massively powerful sensors were alight.
"I have a feeling we are not alone."
The array tracked a myriad of insignificant objects. The silence was almost deafening.
"I'm sure we will not have to wait to long." ...
