Yeah, after seeing lots of new and old posts calling diamond/niobium run ooRP i decided to stop doing it...i don't want people to think of me as a power trader whose saving up money to become a cap whore.

So the first step would be finding a better trade route, but since people like Tenacity preach weird arguments how a "dangerous route" is ooRP for a lawful trader I also decided "to ask" before i "shoot".

That's how this question (again) ended up on this forum:

Can anyone tell me here or via PM the exact goods and transport locations that make lots of money but are still in-RP? (aka good & valid trade runs)

wassup

Why do you need cash that fast anyway?

I do a few slower, less uber trade runs that give me less cash than I would get doing diamond niob, but its more fun anyway.

Just have more patience. Besides, no point in trading at all unless you're saving for something...

Answer: yes, EVERYWHERE. Pick a planet, find a cheap-selling, known good commodity, and go sell it somewhere. Some examples of good buy locations and commodities. (No, i will not give you sell locations, but there are QUICK routes out there for these)

Boron: Trenton OR Pittsburgh (New York)
Lux Food: Cambridge (Cambridge)
Engine Components: Ring OR New Berlin (New Berlin) OR Honshu (Honshu)
Gold: Graves OR Arranmore (Dublin)
Deuterium: Canaria (Omega49) - just don't let the SCRA catch you through O52, find another route (hint, there is one)
Light Arms: Detroit (New York) OR New London (New London)

Just to name a few.

Do you want to trade legally or illegally? Smuggling basically.
Is there any house you prefer? Are you fine with going into the omicrons?
What ship are you flying?
Do you have a tag/ID or simply Trader ID?

I reckon there aren't enough necks, earlobes and fingers in Kusari to display the amount of Diamonds that are imported from Rheinland. Short of drilling holes through each of their planets to make them all donut shaped, the Kusarians probably don't need that many Diamonds for their mining operations. As much as I believe that the buildings in Kusari are all coated in Diamond by now, the fact that the route is (perhaps) the one that pays the most in the game, doesn't make it unreasonable in terms of role play. If anything, the fact that the route pays a lot only makes it more reasonable that people will explore it regardless of all the risks involved.

There was a fearsome gold rush here in Brazil in the middle of the 80s at the state of Para. People from all around the country (and probably from neighbor countries as well) moved to the site lured by the promise of it. The place is in the middle of nowhere and there was no infrastructure to accomodate all the workers. The government had to intervene and send in the army to try and come with emergency measures to try and revert the situation (not remove the people from there, but try and create a minimal infrastructure so they could survive there). After a while, landslides would happen from the intensive digging, a lot of people died in those. Still, the people that went there, they couldn't care less. They would risk their lives for much less than a sure thing. They would risk their lives for the off chance of getting rich.

Even though the prices offered for Diamonds in Kusari would probably have dropped considerably by now, they didn't because of the game mechanics. Kusarians still pay good money for it there. Even though the route through Chugoku is questionable (?) because of the Dragons that would probably have put a whole matrix of weapon platforms around the jumphole for the sake of a little privacy in their "secret" system, they didn't because of game mechanics. The jump hole is still undefended, the NPCs can still be ignored, players aren't always there and the route is still the fastest one (or at least is perceived as such). Even though Sigma-13 may be the system with the heaviest pirate presence in Sirius, there is also a heavy presence of Bounty Hunters in the area (the traders' alteregos), pirates eventually get busy amongst themselves or simply aren't there.

Thing is, the problem with the route is that its yield is unballanced if compared to most of the others, so people will explore (not exploit) it in favor of the other routes. Apart from telling a story, the only reward of trading, as far as this game is concerned, is making money. Trading is not thrilling as fighting is. If there's anything unreasonable, as far as the said "ooRP" goes, is characters whose sole purpose is to disrupt the route.

So, if you are portraying a self employed trader character that lacks any instinct of self preservation and can only see profit in front of him, most likely the Diamond/Niobium run is the right route for you. If you are portraying someone who works for a firm that completely disregards the safety of its employees for the sake of making an extra buck, than the Diamong/Niobium is the right route for you. If you are portraying a self employed trader character that has any concern for his well being, then perhaps you should try some more reasonable routes. If you are portraying someone who works for a firm that is concerned with the safety of its employees, then you should find a safer route. If you aren't roleplaying your trader character at all, then no matter what route you do, you'll always be "ooRP".

are you...insulting me?

if so...that's a annoying&childish way of doing it.

I had (and still have) a hard time getting accepted by the community. Ive been on this server for 3 months maybe and since 2 months i haven't broken a single rule, harassed "legally" anyone or denied anyone's roleplay.

I'm ready to take on more boring trade runs and make less money for the sake of the community.

Yes.. I love caps. Many people on this server love gunboats and some even cruisers and battleships.
I trade so that i can transfer that money to other characters and buy big lovely ships.

But i use them for RP. If you don't belive me you can search for The_Hades (an albatross battlecruiser)
I mostly avoid/flee from fights even against smaller craft....it is the bombers who want to whore me (only one succeeded thou)

Again....im not doing this for myself....i think the Diamond/Niobium run is perfectly valid. I want to change my route for the sake of those like you who whine about power traders and BH BC's.

I do lots of RP while trading. Many people who saw Balthazzar in game can vouch that i usually hire escorts.. pay nicely. Do some conversations with Green.Hawk, spread rumors about pirates ect. ect..

as for the following questions:
Quote:Do you want to trade legally or illegally? Smuggling basically.
Is there any house you prefer? Are you fine with going into the omicrons?
What ship are you flying?
Do you have a tag/ID or simply Trader ID?

1) legally
2) I like both bretonia and rheinland, i guess omicrons are fine...if it not ooRP
3) Adv. Train. The moment i got on the server people were praising it, not blaming it to be the ooRP machine. But it became a big part of my story so ill keep it.
4) Generic trader ID with Republican Shipping Tag. I once read on a post that the diamond niobium run would be valid if you're a member of that faction so i got that tag. I can change it easily thou..

wassup
