Ok. Basically, this is my problem:

My Dad found a router that allows him to block internet access on certain computers in the house at any hour he wants, and also any website.

He doesn't block any websites, but does limit myself and my sister to 4 hours a day of Internet.

Frankly, we're annoyed, pissed off, fed up and annoyed again.

I used to go onto his laptop and change the entries in the Static DCHP, so that it looked like it wasn't my PC beuing blocked etc.

The entry looks something like this:

MAC address| IP address| Name
-------------------------------------
Blah blah | 87.187.153.18| Andy's Laptop

That would be the entry for mine. Haven't included the MAC address for obvious reasons.

Now, I would swap the IP address with another entry that wasn't blocked.

In the Blocks menu it looks like this:

Block:

(IP address)
(IP address)

Websites to be blocked:

Total block? [ ]

Times:
Days:

Etc etc.

Now. Before I continue, I have tried talking to them, as has my sister. We have tried reasoning. We have tried politeness. We have tried deals.

I hate my parents... Basically.

Anyway. I have tried manually changing my IP address. Doesn't work. I have tried spoofing my MAC address. Not sure if my MAC address actually changed... but it didn't work.

I am now asking for any ideas people may have to let me get Internet back.

Thanks in advance.

Seth

I don't know, and can't check as it's in the office and my Mums in there.

I know that the program you sign into to edit the Router settings is called "Tomato"

Also, is there any way to crack his password?

don t wanne sound patronizing - but i predict that you ll be in even greater trouble when you cheat your dad.... . he will most certainly find out that you ve been getting around the limitation one way or another.

so my suggestion would rather be to play along - and try to regain more freedom by "by earning it back" or something.... but of course than, i nither know you, nor your parents ..

other than that - you can also play in every cafe, i guess. - at least here in my place, almost every cafe has free W-lan routers for each customer for as long as you like - and whats better than sitting for hours in a cafe, drinking some good coffee - and having free internet anyway...

Andy, this is actually your father. You're in big trouble...

Anyways, what Jinx said. It sucks, but I'd go with it. The guy did help bring you into this world, and if he -does- find out...

Nuff said.

Aye... you have got a point.

At the moment I've struck up a deal with my neighbors 2 doors down, I can use their wireless network occasionally in return for walking their dog every now and again.

Problem is that the Internet from 2 doors down is quite weak...:(
