You'll burn for this. Traders have been a touch sensitive about the issue lately as seen in a bitter posts and sanctions. I urge you to re-word this before you are seeing [AU] guys in the sanctions list with the inevitable accidental kills. How about you settle for ripping the shields. That it's easy to still stop firing and you don't have to wonder if my next shot will be the kill-shot or not.
I know the server rules give you every right to deal as much damage as you see fit first, even though there was a long complaint about this. You just antagonize traders who turn out in battleships next time you meet.
There is nothing to worry as long as people are aware of the server rules. Such a fool to destroy a trader before making a demand would pay for his mistake. Our policy against shippers will not change till they plead us to share their profits with a life time contract.
