Baltar, your hostility astounds me...

So you want boring generic npc RP acorss the board. Well... I guess you'll have to ignore any attempts at characterisation or storytelling then.

Heh, Your loss. No skin of any writer's noses.

Baltar, roleplay involves a lot of creativity and honestly, it should be boundless. Of course, to that extent where you still keep the game enjoyable for others.

' Wrote:Go check the 40+ page thread pinned (I think) in the rules section. There was a massive discussion about this, and there is now this nice little forum called "special RP chars" which is exactly for unorthodox loadouts. Sole reason for its existence. Please, realize that it isn't just this one... it's whoever asks and does a good job with it.

Ah ... so if I post my Liberty Rogue ID'd, IFF'd and equipped vessel as being a nice friendly Liberty Rogue ... and gets approved by the admins ... then any Liberty Navy vessel shooting at me would be OORP?

I mean ... my Liberty Rogue is non-hostile. Its unorthodoxed ... but based on what you are saying ... if I got admin approved it would be ok.

Oh ... and how the heck is the rest of the server gonna understand? Its literally impossible to educate everyone on each individual characters role play. Are we going to force people to read everyone's special RP before they can engage them?

If I see a Liberty Navy ship with a Liberty Navy IFF and a Pirate ID ... I take a snapshot and file a violation report ... what's gonna happen? How am I supposed to know you're "special"?

' Wrote:There's a difference between "ooRP" and "against the rules", Baltar - and there is a way, as Sovereign just pointed out, to get "ooRP" loadouts approved under the rules.

Yes ... and this discussion violates a written rule. What's the point in having a rule if people wanna create a role play around it. Why don't we just delete the rule in question?

Not hostile sir. Just presenting my point of view here. If someone disagrees with you ... does that make them hostile? If so ... doesn't that make you hostile toward me for disagreeing with me?

Point is ... I disagree with mb52. Many of you agree with him and that's fine ... but don't flame me because I'm voicing a difference of opinion here.

As for "boring generic NPC role RP" ... I'm not for that at all. I've got special characters myself. But I don't write forum excuses for how they role play. I don't mix and match good guy and bad guy equipment, ships, ID's, IFF's, etc. My Liberty Rogue is role playing a non-hostile ... he still gets attacked ... and I expect that. But your actions are more important than your words. You've gotta understand that people in-game are not going to accept mb52's character. Oh ... I'm sure his friends and a lot of folks posting in this thread will accept him. But those that have no clue who he is are gonna get a bit irate.

I want role play to be complex ... that's why I get ticked at the whole KoS thought process. You may be a member of the Liberty Navy ... but why do you have to automatically open up the guns when you see me as a Liberty Rogue fly by? Isn't that "boring NPC role play"? You want complex roles ... try acting differently. You don't have to dress up in fancy clothes to be different and unique.

' Wrote:Baltar, roleplay involves a lot of creativity and honestly, it should be boundless. Of course, to that extent where you still keep the game enjoyable for others.

Well ... it appears this is beat up on Baltar day. Oh well ... what's new? Teschy ... read what I've written ... both here and in other threads. I am ALL ABOUT unique role play. But I also think people like to stretch it a bit too far ... specifically when it comes to rules. I do not like those that bend rules. Rather than ask for a lawful IFF and an unlawful ID ... why don't you ask for that rule to be deleted? Or ask for a new type of ID that would fit your situation? Be creative ... but don't make stuff up so you can have the best combination of ship, weapons, shielding, armor, ID and IFF so you can dock at any base you like and attack anyone you like. There are too many "unique" players out there that build their ship and THEN create their role play ... and these guys tend to be here more for PVP than role play.

Granted mb52 may be sincere ... but you've gotta look at the second and third order effects from this. New folks to this server will see him and automatically think its ok to fly whatever you want and equip it however you want. Then they'll get sanctioned and we'll have flames in the forums because somebody gets special treatment while others get sanctioned for doing the same thing.

Now ... I'll say this again ... just because I disagree with mb52 on what he wants to do ... and I disagree on solid ground (based on present server rules) ... STOP FLIPPING FLAMING ME. I have a right to disagree with him.

Something that needs to be considered here ... mb52 ... why did you choose to bring this discussion to the general population of Disco? If you wanted a special role play you should have gone directly to that post where you make that request to the admins.

When you bring it to the admins ... they say yes or no and the discussion is over.

But when you bring it to the general population ... you get those that will agree, those that disagree and a whole lot of discussion on both sides ... and eventually you get to the point where people get heated about their perspective. Then we have flames.

mb52 ... I suggest you take your idea to the admins for approval or disapproval. If they say ok ... they you're good to go ... but please spare us this public spectacle.

Hm ... Maybe he just made this thread to find out where to get pirate IDs and eventually get feedback without thinking about people like you crusading against ooNPC roleplay and RP stories?

No it was your tone, and suggestion that "There was no RP in storyline" which is a major affront to anyone who has ever written a story here, don't cha think?

It was really to just find out where I can easily get the pirates ID. This whole thing was discussed a few months ago.

And don't worry its been submitted to the special RP section.
