The reason why there were these many caps on (some are indies we have little control over as well) was becuase the BAF were escorting a VIP to New York.

Rarely does the LN use caps, and even then, it's usually a gunboat or cruiser to deal with unlawful gunboats.
It's stressed that bombers be used as opposed to using caps.

Typically, there are more LN fighters/bombers than LN caps.

Why all the cap ships? In RP you already have a million NPC capitals flying around. You don't have many capital ship attacking constantly. I realize there are a lot of enemies in Liberty, but not that many that can't be handled by a fleet of fighters.

Every time I log on there are way more capitals then there are fighters/bombers.

[LN]-Kyle.Whisperdale 55 New York Executioner
[LN]-LNS-Durango 86 New York LI Dreadnought
[LN]-LNS-Indiana 61 New York LI Gunboat
LNS-Chisos 88 New York LI Dreadnought
LNS-Viking 65 New York Havoc MkII
LNS_BB-6X"Iowa" 87 New York LI Dreadnought
LNS_Louisbourg.Fortress 76 New York Assault Frigate

That's who is on right now. I count five capital ships...

Why so many?

Roleplay event. The RP involved making a security cordon around manhattan. The caps were there for that purpose. I was on the Durango.

I spend 95% of my time on my LN using a fighter. Either my Guardian or Liberator. Special circumstances today however.

Thank you for the criticism though.

Thanks to Jihad and the rest of you for clearing this up. I guess this is pretty rare to have this many on.

Hey, i was just wondering...is LN allowed to say "engaging" as soon as they see you and then start firing? (if your red to them)
I just thought there was more roleplay to it...

sorry if this is stupid:P

Read the rules, and ask another question.

I have been playing a few characters in Liberty for a little while now and its the first time I have ever had ones that interacted on a regular basis with the Navy and Police. At the outset, I hadn't settled on final names for the chars and ships so I had the perspective of being several "different" people and as a result want to give some specific (but nameless) feedback.

Overall I think you are doing a good job. I have a little trouble with all the acronymage...LN, LNS, LNGS, LNF, LNX, etc., etc. but that's other players in that issue.

Here are the things I am seeing that bother me--and I mean really are bothering me. Mostly it is personality/maturity differences and it is isolated mostly but regular enough to be a problem. It doesn't reflect overall play of the faction as a whole but it does impact it.

Number one gripe on the list...hands down...players in the LN "helping their friends". On occasion I'll note two players who know one another (you hang there long enough and can catch enough snatches of chat to start seeing some know each other and pm a lot). I don't have a problem with transfers of cash or gear but I mean showing favoritism. Some examples.

Criminal/terrorist player in a gunboat/bomber (who is friends with an LN) is attacking a trading player (or other type for that matter). LN friend happens to come through lane and stumbles right into attack and it goes like this (as the attacked trader asks for help):

SCENE: West Point (or any place in New York).

Trader: "Ah! Help!"
Criminal: "You should have paid trader scum!" *BOOM! BOOM!*
Trader: *Crunching sounds as pieces of his ship break off*
Officer: "Uh..what's going on here?"
Criminal: *BOOM! BOOM!*
Trader: "AH! HELP!"
Trader: *CRUNCH* *SHRED*
Officer: "Hmm...you need to move on rogue. I don't want to have to destroy you."
Trader: "Argh--he's killing me,! HELLLLP!"
Criminal: "Haha! That'll teach ya respect dog!"
Officer: "Ummm..."
Trader: "SHOOT HIM I'M ABOUT TO DIE!"
Officer: "Uh..yeah..bad guy..please stop before I fire.
Trader: *Bright flash and explosion as ship vaporises with criminals sounds of tractor beam*
Officer: OK...this is your final warning."
Criminal: "OK, I'm leaving."

This is pretty much a situation I witnessed three times the past three days and after two of them, the criminal and officer had a pleasant chat with one another before the criminal found another trader in Liberty to engage elsewhere. No exaggeration here.

Next issue is Zone-21. I've seen one instance of a LN officer helping a non LSF/LN/LP player harvest Nomads. I have seen LN players completely ignore an Outcast, Xeno and a Corsair sailing right by them within Alaska system as they passed on to New York to raid.

Harassing level of role play. "Stop! What ya got in there trader? Hang on--let me look. Hmmm..I need to detain you for paperwork. What's that? It's not my fault you are hostile to the Navy right now because of your CD. You still need to wait here while I check your paperwork. Can't help you with the battlegroup that just spawned on top of you and if you run we will engage you." (Ok--that is a factitious rendition but I have actually been in and seen that situation--just not with the specific dialogue.)

Several times, LN officers have been seen stopping a trader or non-criminal for "routine checks" and continue to detain them even as criminal ships pass by on the way to loot another victim in the system.

Finally, its rare now (as far as I have seen) but still a little "bullying" as in: Halt! Bump your ship, cd you, train guns on you and then "Where are you going?" to provoke a response so they can engage (I've seen this mostly with gunboat players.

Get the picture? These add up to "What the heck sort of security force is this? Its especially annoying (and unfair) when its compounded by the *wink-wink, I know you bad guy*.

The Navy (seriously) should have a PRIORITY of protecting civilian life and lawful trade within Liberty.

Otherwise, seeing a lot more maturity and good leadership.

I have been helping the [LN] for a while now, and I can tell you, they do a lot of work for Liberty, that thing about the trader being pirated and no one helping him?.... I've never seen it, I'm not calling you lier, but I've not seen it.

Z21, you can't be always protecting Z21, if you are patrolling you can't be sitted on Z21 waiting for any intruder.

90% of the time that I spend with the [LN]s, we are always going to intercept pirates (group of them, or big capital ships). If you think that LN isn't the LPI, they shouldn't be dealing with some pirate fighters if there are pirate cap ships flying free in their space.

LN, LSF and LPI are three different factions, and they don't do the same things.

But that's from my personal experience.

My main Pilot [LN]-Adrian.Epsilon. Is my only LN char

I tend to Solve issues as fast as i Can ( unless it's a RP argument or some other such occasion)
The Pirates I do come Across, I ask to Halt, and commence chasing them down.

As far as i have seen, Yes some pilots under LN, LSF ,LPI banners overstep their RP boundaries.

For my LN rping I tend to patrol through New york and keep the peace.
( For lack of better terminology, I suck at piloting. I can hold my own for a while)

I will attack any hostile who Makes themselves a Threat, I will protect any civilian who Calls for Aid.
And i will assist any Allied forces that are in the Area.

-----and as far as i've seen-----

LN= Fighters and Pirate hunting Mostly (Enforcing Liberty Laws when we catch someone breaking them)
LPI= Follow the Same guidelines
LSF= Tend to be the Quiet secretive Guards of Z21 and A common assistance Force to the LN fighters.
----------------------------------

And in my Personal Opinion. I dont see Many [LN]- tagged capital ships.

Our group Mainly uses Fighters, and the occasional bomber for Capital-Eliminating power

And i feel that saying that the LN uses too many capital ships is Bull..........

Ive been in a fighter on plenty more than one occasion where Pirate or Hostile Merc ect. ect.
Are sitting in gunboats...calling in their buddies (also in gunboats) And sitting there firing away at a group of 3 fighters and a bomber ( my group)
-------------And of course their are cases where its reversed.----------------

-- but as long as i am around, I fight one on one. And keep everything as Honorable as possible.
so, I dont get many complaints
