We need a trailer for Discovery!

I propose that we make a movie that helps to promote the new mod, or just the mod in general. We need to promote the factions, official RP ones and the NPC ones. New ships, systems (if we can take a sneak peek at the Gallia ones:P)

What you folks reckon? I reckon we could make a competition out of it! Credits involved. I'm willing to trade to help rack up a prize pot.

We need new players in a new age gaming world. FPDS and RTS games are getting huge new fanbases, we need to try and coax some in. Movies help.

Weeeeeeeeeelll......seeing as this is a globally discentralized group of people who just happened to find this mod and liked it so much that they are replying to you, i'd say that is an almost impossiblility.

First, we'd have to all meet up together, displaying a form of organization that is almost nonexistant because of the amount of oorp about,

Second, we'd have to find people willing to do this for free..

Ok basically it is more possible than you think. But like Eboksba said it's so complex and it would need to be organised so thoroughly that it would hard to imagine possible.

Even if your using an rolling on screen cam, it woulds take millions of takes.

In all seriousness it would be easier to remake the Freelancer intro again.

So it is possible but it would be very very very hard.

ok movie, trailer or intro?

trailer = couple organized players with access to the new mod or craftly make others think about the new mod by hints and suggestion, easily done.

new intro = 1 player with enough vid clips to put it together and cut scenes to incorperate into a 3.5 min video clip and make everyone drool.... easily done.

movie = several ways of doing but none easy. would require several people for voice overs, 3D modeling and rendering software to incorporate not only ship mods but characters as well. sound effects, music, time patience and energy from every participant, not to mention a decent script and and eye for scenes.

I vote Trailer and just make enough cut sequence to hint at the new mod and give suggestions to what has been announced into the new mod. Highlight the good points, and please dont do slop 120x80 resolution as on any machine it looks like garbage unless its for an avatar.

well in that case here the following you must do.

1) get Fraps (or equivalent screen capture video software) and take lots of in game vids.
2) organize some good scenes with a few players (mainly so they can boast about having a hand in it)
3) cut the scenes from what you want to use and toss the garbage
4) find you a good song to put it all too
5) use a media editor to put the scenes and the music together, time it all so things line up accordingly as you see fit.
6) include credits and give respect and pay dews where needed else you will be flamed by everyone that sees it.
7) publish on the web.


have fun organizing it fletch;)and can cut me out other than maybe flying by and interacting in some parts of the vids.

I have way to many projects going on to undertake even something as small as this.
