Personal Log
Captain Julio Verde of the Coral Star
Days 1-5
This is the personal log of Captain Julio Verde, of the Pan Galactic Ship "Coral Star"
I recently was accepted in my application to join the Pan Galactic Travel Company as an armoured transport captain. The first order of bussiness being, of course, to set up a ship for the purpose of transporting passengers safely and comfortably to destinations across House Space and Sirius.
The only real choice within my price range that could carry the amount of people i wish to carry safely, was the armoured transport. They can carry more people and stores than a freighter, and are capable of surviving whatever criminal elements likely to attack us in House Space. A search of the neural net showed the there were a few for sale in the California system, so I set of to purchase a ship. Upon arriving on California Minor, i skipped the bar (i did not wish alchohol to affect my judgement, as ship dealers can often be very cunning at dumping a broken ship on you for the price of a shiny new one) and walked straight to the docks.
Upon reaching the docks, my carefully thought out haggling arguments fell apart around me, as i saw a problem. Standing in front of a row of Armoured Transports, was a robotic dealer. I sighed, feeling my neural net account shrink several sizes in advance. I approached the thin machine, and began the process of aquiring an armoured transport.
After inspection of the available ships, i found out a few things.
1# Robotic Dealers are a work of pure evil. How can you get a good price out of a machine programmed to rip you off? How can you appeal with wordplay and emotion to a soulless machine? (even though i sometimes doubt any ship dealer has a soul beneath the shark like manner)
2# A barren ice planet is not the place to go to get a ship that isnt in need of serious refurbishing.

After touring the available armoured transports, ignoring the machines suggestions towards the shiniest of them (it turned out to have recieved a new paint job to make it saleable after several small but well hidden hull breaches in its skin) I decided on the one transport that did not have a major engineering problem. So what was the catch? Pests. It was literally infested with small rodents.
After having it fumigated, repainted, refurbished, re- equipped and insured, i began interviewing possible crew.
Several interviews later (two of which were alchoholics, one i suspect a drug addict) i found my navigator. A pretty Kusari Woman by the name of Matsuri Hiro, she impressed me with her knowledge of sirius and of good travel locations. I also found an aging engineer, a rheinlander by the name of Heinrich Aldetz, who was turned down for work due to his age. His age was not a problem for me, as i have some basic mechanical skills, and he is still fit enough to carry out his job. I was having trouble finding an acceptable comms officer who had not been snatched up by other companies, until i got word from a bounty hunter I know, by the name of Silas, that his younger half brother, by the name of Jonas Capelli, was having trouble getting a job due to Silas's "issues" with the Liberty and Bretonian Authorities. He is a capable comms officer, but he still needs to gain valuable experience, which he will gain on this ship. The last two important crew i needed were a defensive systems operator, and a chef. I contacted an old friend of mine, a fellow Hispanic by the name of Domingo Alvarez, and offered him the chef's position, as he is a capable cook. The DSO i chose, was John Powell, a young liberty resident who impressed me with his humour and good attitude. Domingo and Matsuri then helped me to find 2 kitchen hands and 7 cabin crew. (Sarah Jones, James Powell, Carl Sanders, Emily Swharts, Carina Brocassie, Colin Smith, Mia Ichoku, Michael Carter, Samantha Reagan). The final member of my cabin crew is Jessica Verde, my little sister (well, i like to keep her close where i can keep her safe, and she needed the work) (I hope there isnt a rule against giving jobs to family members)
After meeting with all of the crew on Planet Curaco, so they could all get aquinted and instructed, i had the words "Coral Star" and "Pan Galactic Travel Company" inscribed onto the ships hull, and we were almost ready for the ships Maiden Voyage (well, not really the ships first voyage, but the first one with passengers.
