Today, a Bounty Hunter Battleship and a smaller bounty hunter(i think a gunboat) threatened me over some bounty hunter pilots in my hold, in orbit of Planet Crete.
Present were myself (in a praetorian bomber with novas) my wingman (in a titan) and a player in a corsair cruiser.
I refused the Bounty Hunters demands, as it would be a shameful display to give in to Bounty Hunters in orbit of our capital.
I then proceeced to attempt to eliminate the threat, as a bounty hunter capship in Crete Orbit is not acceptable. As i died in combat (my torps killed me accidentally actually) my wingman and the corsair cruiser just kinda.....sat there, because they did not wish to die, and my wingman wanted to not have to leave the system so he could farm wrecks. I would have thought that a threat against the homeworld itself is something that all corsairs in system should attempt to fight off, and even die to defend their home.
Opinions?
p.s. i eventually convinced my wingman of this, so he went and died in battle against the bounty hunters in one of the asteroid fields, which probably wasnt neccesary, as they were no longer threatening crete, but good attempt anyway
p.s.s the Bounty Hunters were not dock camping, and did nothing wrong, as they rped okay and did not initiate hostilities, just threatened "turn over the pilots or die" pretty much. after i died the bounty hunters continued patrolling to other parts of the system, and we had a // discussion about the problems with the torps.
I think we need a discussion over what an indy or faction member should do when their factions homeworld has enemy caps in orbit, whether thet have enough firepower to be effective in repelling them or not.
thats at the discretion of the player in my opinion and if they are cowardly enough, well, thats their problem and you'll know next time to not trust them and certainly never assist them for anything.
Bah, sometimes you don't want to fight. It's your choice. Sure, in RP they should have engaged, but this is a game, sometimes ooRP wins, and there's nothing wrong with that (in cases like this).
youre damn right! theres nothing wrong with dying for your country. and those corsairs in warships should have been considered as deserters and executed by their government unless they fight off the BH
In situations like this in the army there'll be the senior officer who can pull out the big stick and force action.
In a game that stick is missing, so there's no incentive for anyone to fight if they don't want to.
From my own point of view it would be nice to see more fighters and fewer caps, but that's because I fly fighters and I usually just run when 3 caps appear on the scanners. Die another day, and all that.

One of your captured Corsairs was...persuaded to give me the code for this so-called 'secure' Corsair channel. I told you at least one of the Corsair prisoners we captured was going to give me the information I required, however I did not ascertain the secrets to certain alien weapons the Order have no-doubt been sharing with you. Corsair minds are much weaker than Order minds, must be the Cardamine or something.
I thought my offer to exchange the Bounty Hunter lives for his life (the bomber) was quite fair, obviously he felt differently about it. At least he had the guts to engage me, for what little time it was, that cowardly cruiser sat back and watched his fellow 'comrade' die. After we had collected the Corsair pirates needed for the mass-interrogation, we were met by that lone fighter at the Omicron Kappa jumphole. He was buzzing around my ship, firing at my wingman, we thought it best to give him a chance to run away like the cowardly cruiser. But he did not, and subsequently lost his ship.
Know that we will return to get more of your kind for interrogation, but we expect the Corsairs to put up more of a fight next time...
