Cowardice in the Corsair Ranks

I would like someone to point out to me, where Mcneo said anything about people being dumber than him. Because reading his posts it doesnt say that. What he is saying is that if you are playing the role of a corsair and Crete is attacked by BH's, a person playing the role of a Corsair would defend it. I dont know where you get that that is elitest or calling someone dumb. Please, show me where, or stop claiming it.

not one time i attacked bh battleship in my bomber alone. i was always desroyed, but in roleplay i as corsair pilot must defend my home system when i see bh capital ship and noone is there.

so i know, that sometime you dont will to fight, but when i will not fight and i am near planet and i see enemy ship, i dock. when i stay that mean that i must calculate with enemy attack on me.
other thing that is suprising for me is, why was that corsair cruiser not attacked by bounty hunters. i think every bounty hutner will be happy to meet unlawfull cruiser without bomber escort.

I'm going to weigh in here and actually side with the folks saying they should have RP'd to either the death or the running away. This is an RP 24/7 server not an RP when you feel like it server, if you're just logging on to catch some face time with your buds, find a PvP server cos this isn't the place for it. You RP as much as anyone else all the time, and it's about time we got back to that state. Quality can be as varied as you like, some folks just aren't as heavily into it as others, but you don't stop until you log off. That simple.

It's not elitist, it's what this server is supposed to be about.

Yes, if this was real. Guess what? It's not. Roleplay or not, this is just a game. If you don't feel like playing, you don't have to.

This is a Roleplay server. The most fundamental part of being a Corsair is that you defend Crete, and Gamma, at all costs, with all your might.
No Corsair would stand idly by and allow their families on Crete to be bombarded from space by enemy ships.

If these individuals diddn't want to face the enemy, and die if necessary, they should have at-least docked and logged off of Corsair characters at the time. For Corsair ships (particularly capitals) to sit idly, next to a hostile BHG Battleship basicly makes a mockery of the efforts most players and the admins make, to ensure this Roleplay community is the best it can be. If I where the BHG, I would have felt mildly insulted, and would have opened fire on the idle ships regardless.

Many people misconstrue the attitude of the longest-serving Corsairs as "Elitist", and this is because most players probably can't comprehend the situations we normally find ourselves in.
A "certain type of player" will arrive on this server with no desire to RP, and with the intention to "pwn people". They arrive, trade for hours, and inevitably go for the coolest looking capital ships, from the coolest looking faction. Inevitably, they arrive in Gamma, call themselves Corsairs, and we seasoned Corsair veterans have our names tarnished by their misconduct.
As stated in one of my previous posts, Gamma is one of the most likely places to encounter such players, after New-York.
Try as we might to educate such individuals, attempting to set good examples and preventing serious damage to RP in our area of Sirius, we are the ones who have to put up with having honourable battles and RP events ruined by these people, or at the very least, put up with listening to their "lol"s and "omg"s.
The cynical, sceptical, condemning and impatient attitude, OORP, of most Corsair veterans is bred by repeatedly having our good name tarnished by the actions of these people.

He is being elitist if he thinks that every single time a BHG fleet attacks Gamma, everyone and anyone should follow stone-chisled RP that you shall die a glorius death to the hunters (Lucend made a hilarious remark about this once). I DO agree you should RP a retreat or dock, not just sit by and watch (though that happening makes me think they were AFK...).

The server is about RP, but counter my point about farplay. Some things overrule RP, simply because this -is a game-.


Edit: I say elitist, because forcing your way of "defend by all means, no matter what" RP is just that. Sorry, but I don't see the flawless RP of a lone Titan attacking the BHBB that just rolled up. I don't care how brave and daring that pilot is, unless he's a "moron", he would flee, and possbily spend his last moments with his family back on Crete. He knows he stood no chance. Cowardice? No. Common sense? Yes.

Actually, totally agreed.

And yes, I know of the "morons" in Gamma. I was irked at you calling them that for not engaging, not for their general actions. But yes, they should have docked. (Though I would really believe they were AFK from what I hear.)

And I don't think anyone implied that everyone should drop all other priorities, rush to their computers and defend Gamma.

We should expect CHARACTERS to do everything to protect their homeworld.
We should expect PLAYERS to act as their characters, while logged on.
We should expect PLAYERS to log off, if they arent able to have their CHARACTER do their duty.

Your point about fairplay has nothing to do with this discussion. This is about people who want to hang around and LOL while the people who are supposed to be in the same faction with them get killed outside the planet that is supposed to be their home. How does a coward get appointed commander of a Cruiser? The Corsairs are warriors, and if you want a faction that you can sit by and watch the action in saftey, find another faction. It's not being elitist... it is being Corsair.

to add into this, i know im taking it out of the game but:
wouldn't you defend your wife on your own against 3+ robbers? no matter what the odds?
well i would. and so thats how i would rp it out. ( since in theory thats whats you are doing ingame? defending yours but also other peoples families until reinforcements come to help?) since otherwise that capship would bombard the planet and kill your family, would you stand idly in rp? no you wouldnt.
I would understand if you fleed from a different system, say delta.
But home systems and planets. should be defended no matter what the costs are.

(Edit: But only if you are logged on, and in that system, if you are not then its your choice)

Tell me how this situation is about fairplay. This is not a case of using overwhelming force, or capwhoring or grossly outnumbering someone. What you are saying is that if people dont want to fight they shouldnt have to. I agree completly and I would suggest another faction, maybe the Zoners, because as a Corsair, when Crete is threatened, you respond. There is no "fair play" when people attack your home planet or capital. I will order the whole damn fleet of for just one BH BC attacking Crete. That is RP, but this was not that type of situation, this is a situation where the Sairs were out numbered and certain so called Corsairs decided to sit there and watch instead of defending thier home. That is not RP or fairplay in any way shape or form.



edit: And NO not wanting to fight does not Trump RP, you dont want to fight, flee or dock, those are your options in a situation like that. You dont get to sit on the side while your comrades in arms get killed and somehow call that RP.
