Well personally I like flying Gbs(other caps no)...But my best times ever are always in my Viper MKII or in an Eagle...

So to sum it up...fighters! Hell yeah

but the fact stays. caps rule, only once did i lose in a 1v1 cap vs cap fight, and never in a 1v1 cap vs fighter.

my point? it takes two pros to take down a cap with fighters.
(i still hope the missiles will be fixed. not the accuracy but the "lost target bug" when the enemy is right in front of you)

wassup

My preferred style of combat is words! In RP of course... (what were you people thinking? I'm no flamer..) Seriously, you'd be amased how easily you can avoid conflict if you talk enough..

Due to my hellish lag, I'm pretty crap with almost anything to do with PvP. I tend to avoid conflict as much as possible, so in the whole time I've been on server (over a year now..) I've PvPed a grand total of 5 times of which the results were:

0 Wins
2 Outright losses (destroyed)
1 Fight and flee
2 Outright Flees (no damage)

The missle tries to think, therefore it fails because of its subjectivity

The projectile is mindless, therefore never fails due to its total objectivity.

I'm a gunner. I never rely only on them, but always use them as a primary means of dealing damage. Mines, a CD, a razor - those are weapons of secondary importance.

I also teach my guys, that fire support and numbers are the essence of modern warfare. If you don't have a buddy to rely on in combat or you yourself can't be relied upon - you're better off dead.

capship... lol

Seriously though, I'd love to be good at fighter combat... but im not, I've tried getting better and I just suck at it for whatever reason.

Fighters/bombers rely on reflexes, IMO - you have to dodge fast, you have to aim fast, and I'm just not that kind of player. I think fighter combat relates more to first-person-shooter games, while capship combat relates slightly more to real-time-strategy games. In caps, speed isnt the biggest factor, it's positioning, environment, and weapon/ship setup. You dont have to be quick because you generally have the shielding and hull strength to survive a little bit of damage before going down; a luxury most fighters dont get.

And... to be perfectly honest... since I started flying fighters/bombers again, I've picked up more knowledge of capship tactics than I ever did flying a cap. I dunno why, but I notice how capship players are flying when I'm up close in a fighter, and I'm learning what I can to apply it when I get a cap again in 4.85 =)

I've never been able to afford anything bigger than a fighter (accept one basic transport) since I started, so I dunno.

I also avoid PvP like the plague if I can since I'm an RP primary, pilot secondary. Odd considering my religious playing of ace combat and other flight sims. I'm just not up to snuff here. Also, having cruisers randomly pop out of nowhere and firing on me without a word makes getting good at fighter vs cap hard since I explode or have to run as soon as the fight starts.

*eyes that IMG Albatross that fired on Axton as it came out of the california gate into NY.....blinks as he tries to rationalize an IMG cruiser being there then running out to Alaska...*

Anyways, I'd love to fly a cap ship some day. The role play potential and survivability would be nice.

I'm honestly no good in any type of ship, so basically for me it's anything small enough to act as a mobile piece of chaff for my opponents to chase while others in my group blow them up.

I like all.

1-Fighter vs Fighter (although I hate guys with lots of missiles)
2-Fighter vs Bomber
3-Bomber vs GB
4-GB vs Fighter & Bomber (specially if they have many missiles, I "return" the favour with GB missiles.
5-and finally BC vs BC/Cruiser/DS. I only use my BC against lone Capwhores running BC/Cruiser/DS in New York. Unbeated so far

The mighty and all-powerful Albatross (aka "sitting duck") is an exploration vessel. It goes everywhere, kind like the starship Enterprise.
