"No wait, please, I can explain!"

WE WILL SEE ABOUT THAT

"We'll see about that now," said a monotone voice.

"Please, look, it's not what I meant to do, honest to god, really!"

"I need that disk, Melissa. You know that it's the only way we can end this. Give me the disk, and it will all go away. Trust me," said the monotone voice. "I can protect you. I can end this."

Uncertainly, Melissa handed the disk over to the man with the monotone voice. In that brief lapse of time, a physical connection was formed between the two. Unbeknown to the man's, Melissa had one too, and was not prepared.

Somehow, it had hidden itself within entirely, its energy levels were not detected. Something was wrong, the man's knew the instant Melissa's disk came in contact with the man's hand. The man's was caught off guard.

LISTEN OBEY ME NOW

It was like a wave of force that suddenly overcame the being within the man. Instantly, the man collapsed.

Melissa stood, datadisk in hand. The man was paralyzed, his paralyzed as well. The being sent out shockwaves of protest, but within the barrier that Melissa's had formed, nothing could be done.

Unable to do anything, the man's simply stared through the man's eyes, unable to do anything. Melissa and her's walked away, with the man's realizing that his host was in fact, dead. There was no chance it would survive in the exposure.

Desperate, it tried again to penetrate the barrier around it and contact the others.

Something had gone horribly wrong.

Slowly but surely, Melissa Fletcher's hand reached and inserted a disk into the slot of the computer. Images began to flash before her. But while her eyes stared blankly into the lights, it read the information quickly. It would soon be time.

It had only been a few weeks, yet it was mastering its understanding of the human race. Creatures hell-bent on forging a future out of the present, regardless of the shadows the past cast over them. Their languages were slow and hard to understand, yet it had already obtained a basic idea of word ordering and grammar. It learned to coordinate physical actions, something that really was never needed before.

It was an out-of-the-mind experience for it. At first, typing was most difficult. But soon, it became better, and when it did, it began to push the limits of its vessel.

It really did not care. The sooner it was free of sapien drudgery, the better. The sooner it could return, the better it would be.

Melissa, the vessel, soon found herself in the middle of nowhere.

The human database called it Omicron Kappa. It called it M'kar-nak. Melissa was totally oblivious to it.
