Far worse comments about people are made here, i think 'bite' is a fairly tame word don't you?. I get letters from my phone company which contain more scathing remarks. The fact that I don't like the way you do business is inconsequestial. Clearly i'm not the only one.

I've seen empires rise and fall, noobs come and go, respectable members come and stay, admins gaining and losing power, and all that jazz.

On the topic..personally, I loved the old SA days, I enjoyed them much more then playing now, the LN might've become better than the SA was, but the community in game as a whole somehow..degraded. A lot.

I suppose you can say it was better than than it is now, or better now than it was then. Hard to say, and a matter of perspective. People are also given over a lot to nostalgia etc, so we miss the stuff of bygone days.
