[color=#FFFFFF]Physical Retail all the way. I love the stuff inside the collector's editions! I use steam for Valve games even though I still have their boxes at home...

I miss big book manuals... like from Caesar III and Theme Park... Digital manuals don't have the smell or the pleasure of learning the game before you play.

New manual and box smell... a gamers fix.

i completely agree

There was a complaint because your signature violated forum rule 1. Specifically:

I like physical copies, since I take good care of them and I love manuals, especially the Freelancer manual, but also any manual with unit stats in them (Command and Conquer etc). But right now, it's just easier to purchase a game on steam, since it stays with you wherever you go. You don't have to lug around masses of games (and I do have masses of games). All in all, I have to say that I prefer digital media, though I'll never forget the massive package that X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter came in.

Speaking of which, anyone have a copy of Slipstream 5000 handy, one that runs on something more modern than Windows 95?

Steam for the win. Four games for $30. In store that would be around $150+

I prefer physical copies, but I can't afford to spend $100 on a game disc any more, not when I can get it for less than half the price on Steam.

All you're paying for is plastic and a storage device, that's not worth the extra price to me.

It's also why I hate console gaming now, $100 for a new game that would cost me far less on PC.

Even most of the new games on steam are asking more than what I'm willing to pay for them. The amount of content in the most recently released games does not warrant a 50-80 USD price-tag. They only mark the price up because of a franchise name. The gaming market is becoming saturated with these mainstream games which boast nothing but fancy graphics and shallow gameplay.
