The point raised about not selling them on bases is not that everyone will use them, it's that you're destroying Arms Dealers.
If you want to put us out of business, then sure, go for it.
I'm pretty much fed up with the people who come up to me in game, ask how much a gun is, and then start shooting me saying "You're an overpriced ****, I think I'll take all your guns and sell them myself. Then scream at me for being ooRP when I dock with Newark..."
And I'm fed up with these thread's coming up once a week, shrieking at us. If you're that annoyed, go make an Arms Dealer, see how easy it is. You won't last a week.
So next time you're in game, ask me about a code OTHER than Archangel or Excalibur, I have 20 Cerberus sitting around doing nothing, I'll probably sell you 4 for 20 mill or something. And when I suggest a high price... BARTERING is there for a reason... Someone managed to get my down from 40 mill to 18 today.

And about codes that's the class 10 available guns, goddess for me is like a class 8 at best .
ao they should be used. For instead what will you put on a bomber? a bomber is the best weapon against a cap ship would you put a goddess on that one? no you want something that inflict damage.
on all of my fighters i use faction weps and nothing but.
While we're talking about 4.84, chainguns are basically irrelevant. Codes will not be as necessary in 4.85 as they are now due to unilateral class-9 buffing, but they'll still be there.
As far as Nomad weaponry... Treewyrm has said it a thousand times, and I'm going to say it now.
The Nomad weapons available for the players at large are the ones modified for human use. Your ships have hardpoints for them. They fit in the slots just like any other gun. Now, whether or not you and your locals trust them not to mind control you is a different story entirely- and dismissing the possibility that they are tracked is not the wisest of ideas (not saying they are, by the way). The guns that *won't* work in your ships are the Nomad Lasers available on Xerna, the Ravine, and the Wilderness. Those meld nicely with Nomad ships, and the Wild have modified some human ships to meld with them. Those are the guns that don't fit into your hardpoints. The "Nomad Energy Cannon/Blaster" weapons are just fine to use, RP with, etc. But don't blame us if we get unhappy about where you acquired them.
Same with the cap turrets, except the distinction won't be clear until 4.85 when the models get fixed.

I could not have said it better, being a arms dealer is not as profitable as trading when one compares cash:time ratio but it's a alternative for those of us who dislike trading. Having more than one way of making a living on this server is vital for a lot of people, myself being one of them.
Make evil missile spamming/Anti-Capitol Turret defense platforms near the wrecks so it is not possible to survive without a good VHF or Capitol.
You can also equip the wrecks with Capitol Shields that in a good VHF you will need like 5min to shoot that shields down first. (fair way for other players to interrupt the camper)
Level 10 Faction guns also is not a bad idea, maybe with similar damange as Lv.9 but more range and like 50 more speed, good boost for Lv.9 guns with 600speed as Lv.10 (750 speed must stay maximum possible of course)
Interestingly enough I am a weapons dealer that keeps up with the current market price of various codenamed guns. I know the prices are extortionate, but you'd be surprised at the number of very expeienced players who are willing to pay daft amounts for rare guns.
I have -never-, in all my time selling guns, camped a wreck. I find people selling large stockpiles of guns and buy them off them, selling them on for a profit.
I find wreck camping something of a low tactic as well. I think such guns should either be massively expensive (The prefered option from my weapons dealer side) or be a trophy for some form of hard work, or searching. Of course with the use of Datastorm and so on, it's rather easy to find them and the rarity and thus prestige associated with such guns drops somewhat.
Frankly codenamed guns are only really that useful on bombers or is you have class 9 guns with the same projectile speed (lucky corsairs). I know that I use a pair of hammerfalls on my merc largely because the projectile is pretty, and the pair of lazurites on my corsair for very much the same reason.

Because you're an overprized xxxx and making incessant amounts of cash while oppressing the people of Liberty? - oh well, my Lane Hacker characters will love to do that. Single-handedly. Even more since you associated yourself with the nefarious dissolute cartel known as the IND.
I consider weapons dealing to be boring, so out-of-character - I don't have any special feelings about weapons dealers. They're there for the Freelancers and Mercenaries and Paramilitaries and somesuch. But since I'm mostly running faction characters, I don't need <strike>drug</strike> weapon dealers.

Its not putting you out of business at all... its just competition.
ATM, weapons dealers have the monopoly on codes, as the wrecks are cleared before anyone else can get there. I went hunting codies in a viper, visited all the wrecks i knew, and got one JADE, which i think was left there on purpose.
Once someone has a monopoly, prices rise. Even if there are two peeps competing, prices rise, not because they sit down and fix the prices, but they see X amount for such-an-such gun, and think 'ohh! i can sell for that much? neat-o!' and thus the gun becomes more expensive.
Having bases sell codies would set a price-cap, within reason. If you're in NY, and the nearest place that sells the gun that you MUST have is hostile to you (Please note, here I'm talking about when your rep is messed up, not oorp), you're gonna be giving cash to a dealer, and compensating for his travel, inconvenience, the fact that you don't have to rep fix, etc etc
It gives a standard price to work from; you'll see your income rise.
Selling them in conn. is a might daft - why not sell level 10 sheilds and mk8 armour there too?
Spread em out across Sirius, some lawful, some not so lawful, make it so a player has to have that faction fully green to buy it, make it expensive... you will survive, but you might end up selling less codies and more useful things like enh CMs, that ridiculously priced engine, train disruptors, armour upgrades... the stuff that is a pain in the neck to go and collect - I'd love it if there was a dealer right outside manhatten with those kinds of things on board... and thats what arms dealers really do - they sell guns, they don't manufacture (i.e. farm) them. They have overheads, stock, warehouses, end user certification, etc etc
Now, THAT's RP.
But the best and strongest argument in favour of selling codes on bases is to stop the freaking modders from crashing the server so they can farm the wrecks.
Ok almost got a SOLARIS today, but wait, I get out of a local dock in PR with me junker and AGAIN a lil ....... got there after camp/logged before, I went to ask him to purchase it, realizing that I could just feed the madness, but, lil guy ran up and then logged out...phtbbb!
I hate to bother the admins with such nonsense lack of RP, they have enough to do, not counting th RL problems we all face, but durnit man! I have never gotten this gun before! I know it's there! and now I am giving up on finding it for myself, so now I am to rely on a gundealer to purchase it?
This bothers me and I guess I'm on a rant, but, little fish... I catch you again and I will fill out my seconed ever report to help end this nonsense!
I am now GIVING any codeguns that I have found away, yea that's right, GIVING them away, I will, of course, try to find some new guys to give them to. And, also ending my hunt for any of those guns. Good luck to you all since there will now be one less fish fighting for them in this pond.
