So, i know it is rather unprofessional to compare a scifi game with reality, but bombers are bombers. In real life, there is a pilot, navigator and a weapons man. A minimum of two pilots. So should we rp bombers as a multi personel ship or not? Computers may allow some help, yet if, for example, you look at the barghest, it has many pilots in the cockpit afterall.

Your thoughts?

Nah.
Please keep in mind we are using advance tech like Neuronet.
Consider you, as pilot, are connected to the weaps system via a neuronet console.
This means one gunner can handle more than one turrent (in the same 'direction') on cap ships.
Imagine your keyboard/mouse is the command console/neuronet connection.

Perhaps there should be a nav/comm officer.
An idea to enhance RP but not really necessary.

I think it's an either or thing. Ships like the Barghest directly state that it is a 3 man vessel, but I can imagine via AI 1 pilot can do it all the same.

The Thor, and the new Sekhmet are 2 man vessels as well.

Most bombers are 2 person craft here. Some, like the falcata, are single manned. Just depends on the ship type, most of the time I'd consider one person a navigator, the other the pilot. Navigator handles less vital tasks so the pilot can focus on flying the ship, navigator could also program torpedoes before launch, or handle targetting/scanning systems.

most heavier bombers have two crew...some even more...but then again there those with only one pilot...so rp stories can be made in both ways...

I only recently noticed that my Challenger had a copilot...it was kinda a "duh" moment.

As for crew, depends on the model and the infocard. My Barghest has 3 crew, and is named for the ship, while my redcats and preagles are one-person ships as th model suggests a single seat cockpit.

But really, whose to say the other guy or two aren't just expendable no-names? Depends on how you want to RP it in the end.

Indeed, depends on how you wanna RP. Personally, I like to give as many of the crew of my ship names/backgrounds as possible, but that's just me:P

Only chars i play the multiple crew on are Leo & Aeris, aboard the Silent Night. And both my bomber and fighter have them as crew.
