Scepticising the corsairs

Here's a thread i posted in the "Tired of seeing corsairs" topic that was locked not long ago. In the flurry of hatemail for the corsairs my little post seemed to go unnoticed amongst other conversations between community members. After going back and rediscovering that nothing had become of the topic I decided deliver this little brainwave on it's own to see what the community had to say about it.

A few reasonable words i deliver unto the corsairs.

You feel both proud and rightious of your heritage and standard, yet others discard you as humble pirates not to be treated better than raw sewage. And so they may if you continue to resume your parasitic relationship with the Sirius lawful house factions. Your dynasty is vast yet you still reap injustice upon the innocent civilians of Rheinland, Kusari, Bretonia and Liberty. You have found a planet to call home and you are more than capable of proceeding an honest and lawful living both producing and laundering goods.

I ask you this. What will happen? What will happen once you have embedded yourself throughout the entire sirius sector? Will you continue to suck the prosperity from the innocent four now at your mercy? Will you make slaves of them? Surely a grudge that is truly not in the fault of the Hispania's sisters should be this severe. Even if you chose to eradicate them you will be left with chaos if you continue your methods of piracy and robbery. Your faction will collapse upon itself when your people realise what they have been taught to do cannot be done without turning on their brothers.

Or will you see the reason? See the peaceful future in harmony with your fellow human beings. Yet you may continue your bloody crusade without purpose or direction.

Corsairs presently have no exports bar artifacts, which have been outlawed in the "lawful" houses. As such, they have no viable source of income short of raiding trade convoys.

If, however, they could lay claim to one of the many resource-rich planets such as those owned by the major houses, their diplomacy may undergo a substantial shift, possibly moving them to the status of a "lawful" house.

As much as they demand things like food rations, since their living on a naturally terraformed planet it should not be hard for them to establish a water extraction plant, farms (In the forms of biospeheres if need be) and an oxygen production facility. Never to mind the open availability of Alien Organisms in the vicinity of Yaren. Their pretty much spread everywhere except kusari which means their free to harvest all kinds of resources from all over sirius.

Uh... OK, the Corsairs won't pirate anymore.

And thanks for the sarcasm as it does contribute greatly to the discussion. This wasn't a question to the corsairs as such but a "what if" scenario.

It would be akin to an organised crime syndicate deciding to 'go straight'.

There would be internal conflict as groups clash and struggle for power...the Corsairs should be used to that!;)

It is an interesting concept given that the Corsairs are on the opposite side of Sirius to Gallia.

Yes, well, i considered that, but as you said the Outcasts would be unhappy.

Are you aware that our only two natural exports are warriors and artifacts?
Artifacts are banned throughout Sirius which leaves one thing. What would you do?
Stand by and watch your family starve?

Kusari and Bretonia on the other hand have nothing but love for each other?
What do they do to each others civilian traders?
What are the Libertonians doing to Rheinland civilian traders?

We have been laundering goods profusely throughout Sirius but for some reason, the 'Lawful' houses don't like our goods. Their people do, but their laws forbid it. Thats not us, thats them. It's their way of cutting us out. Three opponents are easier to deal with than four.
We are currently unable to produce enough food to feed our population and need to rely on some of our neighbours for our supply. This looks like likely to continue long into our future as we strive to produce efficient bio-domes.

The innocent four?
They attack our civilian supply ships and outlaw our produce. Why are they innocent?

Possibly. I know Gentle is looking to increase the size of his harem but even he might have trouble with all four houses. He'd probably try though...
The general populace will be used I imagine as it suits. I am not a Corsair Elder but I would think that doctors will remain doctors, construction workers will remain construction workers etc etc. They will now be working for a greater good. That is the difference.

On who?
There will only be us left.

The 'Houses' will provide us, whether they want to or not, the means to do this.
