LOL as it is Alaska is merely an "annouance" on their route. It should instead be impossible.

Should be impossible? Because the Liberty Navy says so? Not everyone cares about Navy regulations, smugglers and unlawfuls alike.
It's not only a annoyance but a trap into baiting them to break the no ramming rule.

Kindred... Smuggling through Alaska is like sneaking a mac truck full of cocaine with a picture of big bird snorting a line painted on the side through Area 51... Then going through the front gate...

That being said, last time I checked Alaska is a free fire zone.

That being said again, attempting to invite someone into breaking a server rule by bumping you is, in turn, no good.

Edit: Belay that. Hoodlum's just informed me that it's not to be treated as a guard system. I'll update again as soon as I have the full story.

Mac truck is to small, i drive a thirty two foot tractor trailer through Alaska and unlike your unjust comparison of a real life situation that not always translates into a video game i make it through just fine.
Edit: Big bird does coke? That explains so much.

Not because player navy says so, because the NPC Navy says so.

Seriously, I remember seeing a rumour that says if you go any where near Z 21, the Navy will just shoot you if you aren't one of them.

Then let the Navy shot them if they can instead of baiting users into breaking server rules.

Quote:6.20 Attacking traders or demanding cargo is not allowed for cruisers and battleships, unless cruisers and battleship belong to Terrorist ID or Phantom ID owner.

Revised:
Attacking traders and/or smugglers and demanding cargo is not allowed for cruisers or battleships, unless the cruiser or battleship belongs to a lawful house military or police faction, and then only if the trader or smuggler is carrying contraband.
Players with either the Terrorist ID or Phanton ID are exempt from this rule.

Thats certainly your interpretation. Of course you are assuming one would report them for breaking server rules on their OORP smuggling run.

Either way, if you are smuggling and a dreadnought is in your path, you wouldn't try and pass it would you? in proper RP you couldn't even sneak past it before you got blown up or boarded by assault teams.

And in SP they did block the tradelanes (and a gate) with dreadnoughts/cruisers

Okay, in the SP campaign, what meets you outside of the JG? What happened after the alarm was sounded? No less then three Liberty dreadnoughts and a number of cruisers showed up.

Not to mention that if the countless Capships that patrol that system didn't get them, the nomads should get them.

Hooray to taking advantage of NPC ineptitude and doing things against cannon lore!

EDIT: Not to mention the fact that the gate is code locked, and it took several minutes to impute the codes when they had them, and even if you managed to get the codes the Navy would no doubt change them regularly.

Kindred has the right point. Capital ships, under the rules, cannot attack smugglers. Physically blocking a jump gate makes the trader: die to npcs or bait them into ramming the capital out of the way.

Baiting players into breaking the rules = a big no-no
