I dont know if this is the right place to post, but i'm unsure of where else i could post it...

THe rules on PVP are very specific, however, i found some players in the game saying different...

Just a while ago, i found my self experiencing my first and second human pirating. The names of the pirates shall remain unknown, for arguments sake, lets call them "one" and "two"....

The first time, i was heading out f manhatten in my train with a cargo hold ful with 3000 passengers. On my way out, i was greeted by one with the request "halt kay" (the character i was using). So, since he had disrupted the trade lane, i halted. He requested me to drop my cargo, which i thought was fair enough, hes a pirate and im a freelance trader. However, from the game point of view, i would lose 2 million credits, and from an RP point of view, i would be killing over 3000 people...

Naturally, i thought this to be a lose-lose situation. So, i hit the cruise engiens and tried to flee. One followed me after realising that his cruise disrupter wasnt working on me. During the chase, he said "Stop cheating and halt Kay". Hang on a second, since when was running counted as cheating. So i voiced my thoughts of corse. To which he replied "HALT". He followed me al the way to Nofolk ship yard, while repeating his command for me to halt. Eventually, he gave up on me as he was confrunted by a player controlled navy gunboat.

This got me thinking about the rules... Had i done something wrong? I decided to check the rules the next time i docked, and sure enough, there was nothing wrong with refusing a pirates demand and fleeing.

Shortly after this, on my second run out of Manhattan, i was confrunted by pirate number two at westpoint. Surely nough, i revieved a completely oridgional command to "Halt Kay". Wise from my first experience, i didnt sit around to chat, i just hit the cruise. He, naturally followed me, firing disrupters and all sorts of other armamaments as i fled. He demanded 1 million credits for my passage. Some what unfair in my opinion, its not like he owns the trade lanes or anything... anyway, its al in role play so i guess it makes sense =P. However, during the 3 system chase, i yet again, recieved messages about cheating. "Stop cheating Kay, just Halt". "If you dont halt now Kay, the next time you will be banned". If i was confrunted by a mugger who couldnt stop me while i ran away from him, i dont think that i'd need to stop when he demanded me to halt. I finally reached freeport 2 after a long chase and docked. I sold off my passangers and was about to leave with my hfule when i thought, what if hes still out there??

So, i decided to just leave the game. I needed to grab somthing to eat anyway.

Now, to the real questions...

Did i actualy do anything wrong?

Why were those players saying that i was cheating and that i could get banned?

Is this all normal and im just being a bit of a noob?

Im quite worried, a 30 day ban or a 50 mil fine would set me back ALOT. Ive only been playing the game for 3 weeks, i made sure that i knew alll of the rules and how to handel certain situations, but here, i have two pirates claiming that IVE done something wrong...

Please, if some one can clarify this, i'd sleep alot easier tonight...

It is not cheating to try and get away. These 2 individuals are out of touch with the rules. Truthfully, they can be reported for rule lawyering and be fined and banned

Now having said that, if you run, and can't get away, be prepared for the consequences.......and remember to RP with the pirate when you are running..

EDIT:Next time you encounter these individuals, hit the print screen button. It stores screen shots in you my photos file in a sub folder called freelancer shots. Then try to pm the individuals and explain that it is not cheating. If they persist, all that is left to do is make a sanction report.

You are allowed to flee, and if you can get away, then good for you. It's the pirates job to prevent you from getting away. Now if you try to flee and fail. They can, and most will, destroy you for their trouble.

Now since you were in a tradeship, you can still return to the system that it happened in and do not have to wait the 4 hr rule. But if you were in a fighter, or other combat craft, you would be forced to stay out of that system for 4 hrs..or until the pirate left.

So you did nothing that was sanctionable, nore was it cheating. Although make sure you include a bit of RP of your escape. Too many traders run silent these days, saying nothing at all, that tends to irk folks.

i mostly pay up cuase i like the interaction.

When a pirate tells me to drop passengers, it will be mass suicide and so like you i will flee

as for running silently, if you rp that you are making a run for it , you already ate the cd before even activating cruise , so rp when you are in cruise and whatch obstacles when doing so.

( they mostly catch me cause i run into something while typing)

nah, he was just running from speed 1k to 4k with one sec without tradelines.. or we lagged :crazy:

just ther was nothing about that.. pay or ul banned as he sayd..

It's normal. It's not just you, we all run into these sorts of things.

all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
