Isabelle was sipping her drink slowly when she saw the four men entering the bar, obviously shaken. The usual sign of people who had gone through deadly combat...

"Do not worry. The Rheinland Wilde shall not pass through the Liberty border. You are safe from the alien menace, here."

The young general asked for the barman with a gesture of her hand, and asked for drnks to be served to the men.
"On my tab. You people deserve it. For surviving another day."

She smiled softly.

The Presidents declaration of war against Rheinland on the Vid screen draws the mans attention from his food. Pausing from eating to watch the speech quietly.

As the speech ends, he drains the remaining wine from his glass, raises from his chair and walks out of the bar.

The bar doors open as a young, genetically altered woman enters the bar. Her ocean blue skin and deep red hair turns some heads, as those are not natural colors. She goes to the bar and orders a 'monster liberty sandwich', as the Liberty Government has officially renamed the burger 'sandwich' due to the war with Rhineland. She also orders a Bloody Mary, but is then told that the bar only serves Libery Ale. Frustrated, she sits down with the Liberty Ale and Liberty Sandwich and begins to eat.

"What do you bloody mean this is all you serve? Flippin' 'ell, this is the Manhattan Bar I guess... all right, start me a tab."

The Junker known as Sterling Fawkes was unimpressed at the selection of drinks. He sighed and settled into his booth as the waitress gave him a skeptical look.

"We don't start tabs with..."

"What, 'cause I'm a bloody Junker, love? Fine, yer lucky I'm thirsty an' wanna be planetside a while." He pulled out a charge card, placing it on her tray. "Keep 'em coming 'til that runs out."

"Very good, sir."

The drink arrived as he lit his cigar, placing his paperboy cap on the table beside him and letting the lights shine off his bald head. He blew out a ring of smoke and watched the looped coverage of the progressing hostilities.

"Reckon we're gonna be busy these next few months..." He muttered to himself, a greedy gleam in his eye as he took a sip.

The girl's sharp hearing picks up the whole conversation from all the way across the room. She finishes the last bite of Liberty Sandwich, immediately orders another one with an extra large order of fries, sits next to the junker, and chows down. In between bites, she asks the junker: "Busy with *chomp* what?"

Takara Hakase sighed as he looked up to the sky. The Aerith was finally in orbit above Manhattan after an extended stay at Baltimore for renovation. The 10 remaining crew members were doing preliminary checks before they departed to pick up the rest of the crew. He continued into the Lounge and was surprised to find it was almost packed full. As he made his way to his usual seat he noticed General Isabelle Kaitlyn. He gave a polite nod as acknowledgement of her presence, which she returned. When he sat, Andrews had already brought him his drink.

Andrews put down the bottle of sake in front of his old friend, "So Taka, heard you're setting out again soon. Any place in particular?"

"Nothing special Ern -kun," he shrugged, "Just a bit of travel to stretch the legs. Probably gonna take a few around with us."

"Really? Guess people will still travel, considering the state we're in."

"Yeah," Hakase looked at the bottle, "it is not going to be easy, that is for sure," he took a swig.

"Say Taka," Hakase looked up at the bartender, "Didja hear about..."

He cut him off, "Hai, was gonna look that way after I dropped some Passengers off at New Tokyo. I hear there were more Sol survivors."

"I heard the same thing," he nodded towards the junker and the young woman, "Best be careful out there Taka, from what I hear, they ain't the most friendly of people."

"It'll be alright," he drained the last of the sake, "Say... you wouldn't happen to have a case or two lying around would you?"

Andrews sighed, "Always with the sake... if I weren't a bartender, and got paid for selling this stuff, I'd say you were an alcoholic."

"Well, I've got my reasons."

"I bet you do," he took away the empty bottle and replaced it with a new one, "I'll see what I can scrounge up. Want me to stock up the bar on you pretty 'ittle ship up there?"

"That would be fine, we pick up our first passengers in 2 days."

"Right," Andrews clasped his hands together, "Sorry Taka, your a good friend an' all, but business is business," he turned to another bartender, "Can you hold down fort for a while? Good," he faced his friend again, "You gota sign something before we start getting thoes goods up."

"Fine then, shall we go in your office or mine?"

"We'll toss a coin."

The pair laughed as they made their way down the hallway.

Charles Dee, an aging Gateway captain walks calmly into the bar. He takes a seat at an empty table for two, and hails a waitress over.

"A Liberty Ale, low-strength thanks. I'm getting in the Train soon - got to be sober."

The waitress nodded, gave him a cute smile and went over the bar and poured the glass. Charles looks at his holopad and laughs - the Gibraltar was already fully-loaded with Boron. "The loading crew have done a great job", he muttered to himself.

As the waitress returned to the table with the bottle and glass, Charles stood up. He pressed a credit card into the waitress' hand and took the bottle from her - he had to go now.

Jack strolls into the bar, swinging the reactor key to his Upholder around his finger and whistling some old Earth tune. He glanced over into a dark corner, seeing only shadows of what seemed to be people - He wasn't sure though; hell, its Liberty. Shaking his head, he moved closer to the bar, where he slowly lowered himself onto a bar stool.

"Barkeep. I'll be havin' a glass o' Liberty Ale." he says while pointing at the barkeep and narrowing his eyes, "I know you, don't I?"

The barkeep snarks back "Yeah, thanks to you, I have to work in this dump," immediately the barkeep gets glances from some of the LSF agents in the bar. The barkeep lowers his tone and leans over to Jack, "You cost me my life, my family, and most of all my damn money!"

A wave of realisation sweeps over Jack, "Ah, you're the smugglin' fella I picked up a few months ago, 'aint ya?"

The barkeep simply gives Jack his drink and walks away, completely silent. His seething anger could be seen out of every pore in his face. Jack simply smirked and downed half of the ale in one fell swoop. Seeing smugglers get a taste of justice brought a little bit of joy to Jack's life. Not a lot...but a little.

A shadowy figure enters the bar. The figure walks over to the bartend, and sits down. Somehow the shadow still covers him.
"Bartend! Gimme the best you got 'round this dump."
"Aye sir!"
"and another thing... have you seen any pirates 'round here lately?"
He thinks of this question, while pouring the shadowy figure a drink.
"Ya...ya... now that i think of it... i have."
"Well then, did he come in here?"
"ehh yes sir, he came in here alright...."
The bartend stoped suddenly a if something had struck him in the head.
But nothing had... Only his memory...........

If you ever tell anyone i was here i will come right back here, and blast your head right off your body! Is that clear Mr. Bartend!
*gulp!* aye! C...Clear Sir!!
good... now i'll be leaving now, don't make me come back.

"AND!"
"oh... i must have had the wrong guy. No, no.. none came in here sir."
"Your useless."
The shadowy figure gets up and starts to walk away. The bartend turn around for a second to put the drink away. When he looks back, the figure wasn't there. But someone else was...

2 days later there was a brand new news story about a bartender who had mysteriously vanished. Another skilled bartender had come to take his place though.
