Had a few questions about Junkers and Gallia. If anyone knows the answer to any of them, answers would be greatly appreciated.
First off, it seems to me that while the Junkers may have started off at Gallic spies, they've evolved into something different. While there are certainly still Gallic spies among the Junkers, I would hazard a guess that the majority of them had no idea and no connection to Gallia. Am I correct?
Secondly, which side were the Gallic-loyalist Junkers on? Are they split between royalists/separatists (i.e., Coalition aligned)? All royalists? Would a Junker character working as an active agent for the Council in the rest of Sirius be workable? How about Junkers with ties to Gallic unlawfuls (Brigands, for example)?
How does the GRN feel about Junkers in Gallia (assuming repfixing was done, but from an RP point of view)? How about the Council? Other notable Gallic factions?
How much does the rest of Sirius know about the Junker/Gallia connection? It seems to me that they're pretty much in the dark about it at the moment, is that correct? I haven't seen any news or rumors announcing it to the world, but I haven't looked very closely (or on Junker bases).
This is something I should look up in the near future. I haven't been to Gallia yet due to previous commitments and server instability. Once my characters are all set up, I'll peek over and see what's up.
I'm sorry if you were expecting a response with some answers, I'm as much in the dark as you at this point. I was sort of left out of the loop.
Obviously, but there's more to it than that, especially with Gallia's politics. Crown and Council both have legitimate claim to ownership and there is that divide. Junkers work with both but there is that distinct tension there.
Congress is still working on an official position here. Individual Junkers can do what they like, that's what being a Junker is about.
Edit: I have two (related) Junker characters, and my idea is to make one of them more Gallic-focused. I was thinking of making him/her an agent of the Council, both outside of Gallia and in (assuming Junkers aren't KoS for the GRN/GRP, one of them would be a perfect Council agent). Would fly a small ship, probably the Gallic civilian freighter so as to better fit in.
For one thing, what's all this about junkers being 'Gallic spies'?
We don't spy for or against anyone. We first met the Council as they attempted to clear through the minefield, learned about Gallia and set up trade relations with both the Council and the Royalists, being at the forefront to cleaning up the wreckage of their wars. For our own benefit we then preferred to keep the existence of Gallia secret.
For the last few days, we junkers have been getting the blame for all the un-welcomed factionised strays and explorers that have been visiting Gallia without being met by the battleship's gunfire at the entrances.
I thought everyone was saying that when the new version was released, Gallia would be hostile to all outsiders except for Junkers. Seems this hasn't turned out to be, since everyone is getting in without trouble; freelancers, bounty hunters, Liberty corporations, BAF, Corsairs, Outcasts, Zoners... to name but a few that I saw flying about Gallia yesterday.

Junkers and The Council are enemies to each other, since the Junkers were established as agents of the Gallic Royal House. The coded reputations reflect this. Junkers have no business landing on Council or Maquis bases any more than they do landing on Kusari bases. While certain Junkers might sympathize with The Council, The Council will not trust them due to that historical relationship. Maquis and Junkers are not outright hostile, but your reputation with Maquis improves by killing Junkers.

According to the infocards, everyone save the Maquis is neutral to the Junkers, but in the same way in which they are neutral to the rest of the houses (save Kusari). The Maquis were possibly encouraged to attack the Junkers after the Council discovered that they were being used by the Royalists as spies throught Sirius.
However, not all Junkers are spies. I would hazard that most of the ones living outside of Gallia are what the vanilla infocard describes them as: scrappers, black marketeers.
