Yes, clearly it's such bullcrap to declare yourself the appropriate rank for the vessel you are flying.
Wait, you're telling me Ensigns don't fly Battleships?
what does the order have to do with this? I played as an order pilot for >8 months before any of that council/high command crap came up, whereas many players - apparently yourself included - are trying to take positions of high rank and command in a faction you know absolutely nothing about.

Note on Bretonia's discovery of Gallia: Bowex has been extremely interested in Orkney and Tau 23 for the past few weeks. A significant number of exploration ships (that is one of Bowex's primary roles - exploration) were dispatched to the Tau 31 Gate Site owned by BMM, to launch into Orkney.
The original intent was to do more surveys as to the feasibility of colonising the system's planet, as well as a more 'discreet' missions as to authenticate some rumours about unidentified ships roaming the system, which the Miners had been spreading. Needless to say, Bretonia stumbled across the new House.
The intel was passed on to the House of Lords, who then ordered the Admiralty to seal the system in the interests of security and intelligence gathering.

And there you have it. Ingame the Bowex]Mountbatten has been surveying Orkney, and hopefully will be involved in making ties with Gallia itself. But then, I wouldn't dare to log back in on it out there until, 1) the BAF and Bowex Exploration/Security Management authorise it, and 2) the Horde had died down to a reasonable level.
As for knowing about Gallia, and first contact, I think that happened at some unspecified point several weeks/months before the mod release. You can go to a Corsair base, on the other side of the galaxy and find news articles regarding Gallia's discovery and how the Outcasts had gone in gun's blazing.
Gallia doesn't appear to be any well kept secret, and more than enough people seem to know about it and it's location.
Where you can see my reply on the issue. Which iv also told to my group (Northern Council) and suggested to the other group (Southern Council)

We've read the exact same information you have. Sure, we dont type out french accented english but um... Thats really the decision of the player to make. As for the ranks... Its just unofficial faction ranks for gods sake...
I wasnt around when it first happened but i dont think LN or any of those other factions started out with everyone at low ranks. If people are so for RP within Gallia, should they find not a single battleship cruiser or even gunboat? But everyone in Civillian Ships going to Council or Navy Recruiting Offices?
Or instead find whats left of the fleets after the mine field was broken through, find GRN trying to breach Languedoc into Sirius and being stopped by Council
I think if someone wants to RP someone with some power in the council they should post a whole heck of a lot of RP on the forums that the community can then disapprove of if it is incorrect or improper. If council leaders being RP'd is going to happen then judgments need to be made on a case to case basis. I myself have hardly played my council character because I haven't had time to put the RP for him on the forums.

I for one have, for the moment, chosen to stick to ingame RP on my council char because of the state of the forums right now with threads like this one and people trying to take shots at those making the effort to give non-Gallic chars something to RP With as they come. Instead of showing up to something that would otherwise be, for lack of a better definition, a ghost town

For once, I like Tenacity' speech.
And, by far. He is the indie most deserving of his capital vessel for all his patience and roleplay accumulated.
So, agreed. It's a bit rushing. Confusing, everything that is hapening right now.
in my opinion, gallian players, set up and do not go in contact with outsiders,
outsiders, do not come in gallia until final mod release, unless you have a decent reason.
official and definitive diplomacy should await til mod release.
