Did you try pirating in the "VHF"? It basically has bomber firepower, but with faster refire.

2 of them will rip a trader apart faster than 2 bombers.

tried it solo against a weaker transport. They eat it for breakfast cause the Mas Guns have
only 696m range... without the ability to bombard from a distance you really need 2 players
to take on anything.... no more solo piracy like everyone else does.
