Hahaha, that's all i can say to this, Seeing how I have a lot of 4.85 battle experience, as them devs usually dedicated me as the capwhore who will be testing the cap. So if anything goes wrong you'll have to thank me for it. Or better yet my resonably good aim.
And with my resonably good (far from anything great) aim we found that even primaries rape quite handily and there are basicly two types of battleships, light and heavy. Heavy ones cannot dodge, but have so much armor escorts have half an hour to protect them from 5 bombers... and all you need is 1 razor hit on a bomber that has a fighter draining it's shields. And if someone can't hit razors, that is totaly their problem.
But talking about point blank range... a bomber at some 400m is serius worm food when primaries start hitting it... say you have 10 turrets that's 90000 damage per second... enough to incinerate a bomber. If you dare mount secondaries that range easily extends to some 600m at almost the same damage. And at some more range solaris kicks in to it's maximum range.
Solaris especialy is a very deceptive little weapon. At first it seems total phail, but after a 30 minute battle, bombers seem to die to it faster than the cap to bombers... Fighters thou are of little consequence to a battleship. You can almost ignore them and if not primaries can take them out at close range (and they don't have long range so they need to be close)
A Single VHF can protect a cap from 2-5 bombers... depending on the cap ship and arments...
Even when alone, you have to really fight it and learn to aim. Hitting bs primaries is about as easy as hitting 600m/s weapons on a joust. Not everyone can do it, but those that can rape pretty hard with them.
So don't bother saying Point Defense does not work... Even nonspecialised primaries work. Now your nonspecialised loadout can be countered by skill of bomber pilots, but try getting 4 skilled bomber pilots on your tail at once... It just doesn't happen...

yep as Jure said you gun of doom is razor... it is sniper rifle of this game. Speed 1600 beat even SNAC of bomber. Key is force them with flak stay away (thats exactly what you want) and let them think you are noob (dont shoot anything except flaks). Most of them stop after while dodge. Thats your moment, send them few solaris shots (speed 2200 FTW!) just enough for shields and at the same moment your razor (or send one razor for shield and 0,5 second after second razor for hull):)
BTW.... solarises have uber speed 2200 Oo even blind must hit with that (tip of the day... dont aim on crosshair, aim a little bit over):)
Aye, by far is the battleship defensless. If you feel defensless take time to practice...
And that OPG message dump was very informative, 4 bombers however should be able to take out an entire unescorted fleet.

This is what an unescorted fleet looks like... Battleships have effective point defenses, but one battleship cannot protect another battleship from bombers, It simply can't. And neither can a cruiser. A single gunboat + bomber hardly constitutes an effective escort for 5 caps... imagine if those 4 were sabres with krakens escorting 3 battleships. I dare say result would be totaly diffrent.

Well ... While we were shooting 1st battleship in the cloud i had that falcata on my as... on my six:PMade it -really- tricky when BS was shooting me as well. God bless lack of communication between them. Basicaly if whatever is keeping bombers shields down ... well BS will eventually hit.
If those 4 were sabres with krakens ... well then i guess my report wouldn't have that many screenshots.
In any case, with full primaries 2 bombers are fair game even for a nub, but expect to use skill for higher odds...

Well Sungi inspired us and we've blown quite a few caps in Gamma in past few days... Legates are getting boring though ... we wouldn't mind something else to blow up.
1 Decent bomber + me (whoever seen me in bomber know that i'm far from decent) easily rape Legate. I had something like 60 bats /bots left. Takes ages though ... Probably would be a bit more challenging if he didn't switch to turret view and just sit there waiting for our snac's and novas ...
Legate with strange combo of primaries, secondaries, solaris, missiles and god knows what else hardly takes any bots.
On the other hand we didn't blow Sungi on Exorcismo(Osiris) yet. Main reason would probably be that he's avoiding us after a miracle saved his miserable life:P(server crashed when he was left with like 1 bar of hull and no regens left)

You want bombers to be hit by BS. Not going to happen, or BS will rape -everything- which is not meant to happen, so stop your bloody whine fest and maybe fly a figther, you can kill bombers more easily.
Oh, and bombers were nerfed, take Facata for instance.
Yesterday on my [HF] Falcata, I fought a Xeno Eagle. Normally, I'd have SNed him -easily- what with all his sliding.
But my turning and my torp firing arcs were limited, so I got my ass handed to me (Well done Eno btw, nice razor aim back there :P)
Tenacity, you are on a lower level, claiming to know everything from a couple of fights on something that shouldn't even be used for comparisons, as it is a special case, you're Order Carrier. Again, fly a figther if you want to rape fighters/bombers. You are claiming to know more than the people who actually made this system.
Oh, anyone remember Symbol? Thats how you should fly a fighter vs a bomber, all these people here saying it's easy to get SNed by a bomber in a fighter? It's not, you're most likely just flying in straight lines. I've only ever truthfully, in a one on one been SNed, and that was by Zeltak, when I made the mistake of reversing when he overturned me. (Me in an Eagle, his in a Praetorian.)
Think before you post, remember, you're getting used to this system, we've been using it since last September.
The new cap guns are not meant to be 'point, click, fire, win', They are meant to be used tactfully, and to punish bombers who get too close.
