We have a factionalized class 10, I think... However, we have no class 7 or 9 shield buster, and no class 7 or 8 hull buster. Class 7 is necessary because of the Pnumbre's 2 7s, 2 8s, and 2 9s.

Actually, I agreed with the majority of what you said in your post. It was good. Maybe I should have said that...

Anyway, I was just pointing out the part that I didn't agree with.

In all honesty, it isn't the weapons that bother me. Especially after reading this thread. Everyone seems to have a specialty in some regard faction wise. It is a part of Disco and I can live with that.

The thing that gets me is stacking the weapons on the boosted ships. Then you have to look at how the ships were aquired for the faction too. They were stripped from the players that use them, boosted and made phantom only. The players who did use them were told these are ours now, lose 'em or sanchun. Protests (I admit loudly from myself) were ignored or laugh at and the process moved on. Really, who else as a faction in the history of disco has had the power to pull something like that? It is true, that people have been told they have to change ships (rouge GS is an example) but the option was still there to use it with a rep change or a replacement (rouge GB) was made.

I think it is actions of that nature that put a shadow on the faction and foster the kind of hostility and resentment to how the group as a whole is seen.

Raven Claws and Slippies weren't that big a loss. No more lolzing Mercs or Missileclaws. Then, seeing as I fail at pvp and have accepted it, I'm not always looking for an extra leg up in a fight like 90% of the community, am I?

I would however like to see the Claws and Slippes replaced for the respective sides, albeit without the extra weapon slots or whatever made them so popular. Admittedly, the ships did have style to their models.

For the Core.

You act as though no one else had ships taken away from them in 4.85 with little say on their part. It is part of the development of the game. Now each faction can complain about what they lose and "the way" they lose it, which btw is the same for everyone that is losing ships, or we can look hard and realize that the RC was always supposed to be a Phantom ship, it was brought into the mod to be a Phantom ship, it was politics of one kind or another that also gave it to the LSF, and the Slippy was really a ship without a good home, and as an added bonus matches the RC. The slippy was a civi ship sold on a pirate base. A civi ship shouldnt be the best light fighter in the game, and the best light fighter in the game, which is supposed to be a civi ship, should not be sold on a pirate base. Two ships that really didnt fit were reassigned, it has happened to others in the past, and with the new ID rules in 4.85, there are many, many people who are being asked to give up ships they have become accustomed to. In the end we can only hope it's for the good of the game as a whole.

You never asked for it? Well what's the point of this discussion then?
I mean, while reading trough the first few pages I got an impression that some of your members want that advantage because it fits your RP.
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's what initiated this discussion.
If you all just said "We want normali guns too" thread would be closed and you'd get those weapons.

All I wanted to say is that you can RP whatever you like as long as it doesn't ruin RP for everyone else.
And if I RP an ultimate-invincible-fighter-ace-hunter I won't be asking for a better ship. I will actually try to be that ace with my PVP skills.
That's the whole point.

I just stated that you were allowed to do so, which some other factions wouldn't get.
Agreed? Guess so. Which is normal because you really are a special faction, in the real meaning of the word.
But it's ridiculous to say that you are just a regular faction like any other on the server.
We both know that's untrue.
And as a special faction with special treatment you will always be a target for some angry regular (maybe even envious) players. That's normal too.
And you will always be hunted trough the whole universe. Why?
Because you will make certain people angry when you kill them.
And you kill a lot. And that's normal too.

Point being. You are special with all of it's cons and pros and you always were.
No point in pushing it too far.

That's exactly what's wrong with this thread. We asked for guns gave some rough statistics, and let developers argue over (at least that's what I've gathered from Kane, Hoodlum, and myself).

That's the whole point.
Of course, I do this in Rheinland all the time. "You dare use inferior Bretonian weapons on your craft? Are you nuts? Grab quality Rheinlander guns, pilot!" Etc.

I must have misread, then and apologize for making implications that you never... Implied. Anyway, it is true that we get to do some things that other factions can't do, but those are only differences in ID limitation and we are bound by general server rules, including faction rules, engagement notices, etc.

You are certainly right about being hunted... That's no excuse, however, for superior equipment.

I'm not here to fan the flames of miscontent.

No axes to grind.

But I do have an idea for the Phantoms' line of weapons.

Something fearsome, something unique. But something with its own "idiosyncracities".

First, the hull-buster: Laser/photon, refire rate of 1, particle speed of 1100 m/s, dps of 2250.

Second, the shield-buster: Refire rate of 1, particle speed of 1000 m/s, dps (shield) 2000 + (hull) 500.

I'll let someone else figure out the energy usage calculations. In any case, these guns would use a fair amount of juice, thus rewarding accuracy, but severely penalizing missing. The shield buster could use more energy than its hull-busting counterpart.

ok idk what the phantoms are but if you give them a boost others wil lwant one and we wil lbe back to square 1

on a second note i dont know who they are there roleplay nothing so yeah just my cent and a half
