I voted Rheinland needs more forces and Liberty will win.

From what I've seen of Rheinland and Liberty players...
Liberty has a lot of players, but in my opinion, Rheinland has better pilots. Not sure about RP, I don't have much time to read up on every RP story or biography, but I imagine that most of the RM have some good RP as well as some of the LSF or LN.

But, like in a real war, the guy with the bigger stick wins.

Liberty has a hell of a lot of capital ships *grumble* and most of the players are willing to use them in combat.
Rheinland... I've only ever seen one capital ship and it was a cruiser floating above New Berlin.

I think Liberty needs more because Rhein will be fighting from a defensive possition and it is easier to hold the line.

If we go by objectives I think Rhein will win. There is no way Liberty is going to assult through enough to win back the cost of the war and the dept that Rhein holds.

As long as Rhein survives it will win. That and our pilots Roxorz!

But honestly, its hard to tell. For all anyone knows, Texas might become Rheinland Territory in 4.86

Then ... they both kill Poland?

"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."

Liberty better win. But, I don't think they will. Not with the quality of pilots I remember from the time when I used to fly regularly, anyway.

Based on player activities of course.

In RP however, I think it's evenly matched. Liberty technically has the forces to take on two houses at once, and be on the offensive on both fronts. But, it isn't that simple. Rheinland is, while suffering horrific losses over the years, the most experienced in warfare, and generally fights some of the most dangerous groups in Sirius on a regular basis. Rheinland would easily be able to draw the lines half way down Hamburg and keep it there, falling back on their own supply lines. I imagine Liberty is full of raw recruits fresh out of west point, whereas Rheinland has veterans and battle hardened folks willing to protect the god-chancellor and his realm to the hilt of their battered swords.

In conclusion, Rheinland probably needs more forces. Numerical superiority allows Liberty to stay on the offensive, even if they take high losses. They might need to quell unrest at home with marshal law though.
However, Rheinland should not be able to effectively attack Liberty territory, as depleted and decrepit as its economy stands. Therefore, if there will be any victor, I am confident that it will be Liberty.

For humanity to leave the Sol System to avoid making the same mistakes that lead to it's destruction, we kinda made a violent turn in the wrong direction. :$

However, that being said. Liberty forces are everywhere, and... Wait, I saw some RM once... Blockade running. Therefore, I'll offer my services to Rhineland when war finally breaks out if they'll have me.

It isn't a matter of one side needing new people more than the other. It's a matter of both sides needing players to have positions on both sides of the war. I'd link once more to Dieter's post, but I can't be arsed gravedigging it for the third time in a week.

Oh, yeah, Liberty wins. We have Xeeners, and they are -very- angry people.

For the Core.

Good point, Sonja. Humanity can hold out against impossible odds, you can rain fire down on cities and town, and the populace will eat dirt and live in caves as long as the barbarians are at the gate. But, when the war is on another front popular unrest will start to turn into civil disobedience.

Especially if that populace is deprived of household appliances, or more applicable, raw materials to keep the manufacturing going. I can see this war turning into a war for the Liberty populace, more than for planets or stations, and that might be interesting.

I find this ridiculous, to be honest, considering the fact that Rheinland is the biggest producer of military vehicles in Sirius (Military vehicles infocard), and has an entire planet devoted to this (Nuremberg infocard).
