Battleships

Ok, so I saved up for like 2 weeks of spending all the time on the computer trading to buy a Rheinland Battleship. And I sold it today, I bought it less than a week ago.

Why do you ask? Well because I learned the hard way that they absolutely suck. I'm serious, I was in Braunschweig training with it against two RM bombers. Couldn't hit a thing, eventually I ignored one and was chasing the other one around the system. Three bombers could take a BS down easily, seriously easily. Another point is that after 3 hours of playing on it I was completely bored of it, the trouble with trade lanes and moving around is so boring. And so I spent 1 billion credits to learn never to buy a Battleship again.....

At least I now have about 415 million credits which will keep me up and running for a couple of months, so I don't have to trade until it runs out.

Oh, and other points:
-Boring as hell,
-More fun to fly a fighter, bomber, gunboat, destroyer, anything smaller than a Battleship,
-um, boring as hell,
-Not what you think you get (people normally expect something that would take down 10 bombers rather easily, instead you struggle with 2),
-boring as hell,
-your screwed against bombers,
-and of course, it's BORING AS HELL.

Now, a message to people thinking "YEAH THIS WILL BE AWESOME!!", IT WON'T BE!! You might aswell say to yourself your going to buy it, then when you have the money don't buy it so then you'll never have to trade again.

I'm done, pin it and lets get on with our lives. *pins on notice board and walks away*

P.S. You may actually want to pin this thread, due to the fact that it will teach new players that Battleships really aren't so great.

I'm sorry you had to find out the hard way matey, some people do actually prefer the old battleships, but frankly, they are pump.

this is why we say: ''test your ships in openSP before you actually purchase it. saves wasting cash''

and no, battleships arent crap. each has their own uses. for example, the osiris is small and agile, and does a good job at dodging and running and hitting, while ships like the RH bs are good for just sitting and taking hit after hit while dishing out big amounts of damage. a lone battleship -obviously- wont have any chance against 3 bombers. duh. this is why you need to have a mix of at least 1 escort + flaks/bs secondary turrets.

i dont agree with you saying that battleships are useless, becuase they arent. while i dont agree to cap spam, i also dont agree to such posts that blatently say: ''dont fly caps, you'll suffer!'' becuase i fly -alot- of battleships and am fine with em, even if they are the longest or epically huge (spyglass, nommie bs [at times, avoid flying it], lib dreadnought, lib carrier, oc bs, dreadnought, legate, etc.)

plus, Liberty and Rhienland are nearly at war, and i know once liberty declares it, there will be alot of lolwutting Lib bc's headin to rhienland. im sure the RM would have appreciated the help from a good RPing RM 'admiral' to help against the libertonian invading forces. but there again, a battleship isnt for everyone i guess.

Battleships are good at sitting at a shipyard and looking imposing. Also makes RPing easier (I find) because you're not constantly evading every missile that comes towards you, like you are in a fighter.

Oh, and for the PvP side of it: Battleships own gunboats and cruisers. Absolutely obliterate them with the right loadout. Bombers are just a pain in the ass to hit with the turrets. However, if you got anti-bomber/gunboat turrets on your battleship, I'm guessing it'll be good Vs bombers/gunboats and not-so-good against cruisers and other BS's.

Just my opinion.

I guess i'm just more of a fighter person because I last longer in fights and it has more skill to it, same with gunboats.

Good points Frozen, the Rheinland Battleship is more like a lump.

And although I do like to role-play larger ships, I do prefer the fighters and bombers.

Hey LFs suck as well,

I mean:

you have to dodge all the time
bombers take ages to kill
while dodging all the time
traders are very hard to kill
and you have to dodge all the time
gbs are impossible to kill
and you have to dodge all the time
cruisers are impossible to even move the shield on
and still you have to dodge all the time
bs you can't even fire at since flaks will blast you
..even with dodging all the time

How can I in SP get 1 billion? What do I need? What are the shortcuts to riches?

Just for this ship testing. I've always wondered about the biggest of ship and how they would feel like flying, but getting the cash the traditional way of trading for them just to test them out is not worth it.
