Well, what can I say, because of a large donation, i could affoard to buy this lovely ship.

The salvager offered me many kinds of RP opportunities, starting from simple salvage, to high-fiving another salvager and poking at Laowai's titan. The ship itself is simply amazing, its very good looking, and, what really i liked, is the fact that it wasn't really symetric, it really looked like something a Junker's family would throw together, its like a oil grid, with a crew, cranes and all you need to make good RP on.

As for the pvp aspect of the ship: my friends, it may have gunboat turrets, but its still a transport you know. Its not a pvp ship and that's final.

Current loadout for my ship was four basic bunboat turrets, a battle razor on slot 2, which is a forward-only firing turret on the bottom of the ship. There is a sixt turret, which is on the back, but is a rear only firing one, so a Mining laser was more than appropriate for that. A cap II and a Adv transport shield. Cute.

Few things you need to remember, if you are firing to the side, only three turrets will work, two on each side, so if you joust someone, be careful. In my only three fights against small ships, i found it useless to use anything but a gunboat rawor on the thing, so as long as you have that, you can have a chance.

A friendly LNS, on the other hand made me understand the ship dies quick to a carrier and a drednaught, so dont go charge them with it.

another note, this is not the transport of choise either, the salvager with it's 6 gb turrets has twice less fighterpower than a CT with 12 trans turrets or a liner of any kind, because of the turret placement.

My final comments: It is an amazing ship, looks good in the junker kind of way, offers much RP opportunities and simply is a good ship. Kudos to the modeler.

Glad you posted this. Been thinking about a Junker character and going for this ship to use exaclty as a salvager. Will do so i think.

Quick question though, does this ship require the Junkers guard IFF? I have been told conflicting answers. SOme claim its a Cap ship, some a gunboat, and others like yourself call it a transport.

Note that due to the GB turrets it can be really effective in the support role

For example mount 1 Pulse and 1 Razor and bombard Transports from above their turret range, while a Collector keeps them from running

I go by the shield for all vessel classification. I'd say cheerfully that it's a gunboat.

I have found its combat performance to be somewhat subpar. They're tough enough, but they soak up supernovas like Mule posted a joke thread that they're going to be gone next week.

However, I've not been on the wrong, or right, end of one in a transport on salvager brawl.

As for the question about the IFF, no, you dont need a guard ID or IFF for it, since, even if its classified as a bunboat, you still dont need a guard for that, but you do need junker guard to be neutral in order to buy it, and friendly, to get the turrets.

Im not saying the ship is fail in pvp, i took out three xeno Roc's in it and im happy.

And yes, still, the best pirating trans is the Pirate trans, so its in the name, and i wouldnt mind if the ship got nerfed, i still say its a rp only ship. and a bit of smuggling.

edit: Well basically its a bunboat which is the size of a cruiser and just as heavy with a bit more armour than a bunboat, a crappyer shield and more cargo.

Dusteh, i still say the thing should get a bonus to all minables, not just the scrap metal as jukers do salvage any kind of raw forms of junk, starting from scrap metal and ending with silver, copper, gold, neobium and so forth.

Dusty o.o since when diamonds are valued at a smelter? Unless you want to have a jewel incrusted melting pot

Long story short, one of the attributes of the mining ship is that it possesses the required industrial backbone within its ponderous bulk in order to, theoretically, impost its grubby will upon the spaceborn elements it might encounter.

The Salvager, on the other hand, primarily scoops up floating scrap, om nom noms it (which scrap takes very gracefully, as I have never known it to submit a sanction report) and then returns with the goods in tow.

Goods being the word, as the Salvager is excellent as separating the wheat from the chafe, or the scrap from the scrup (bad scrap). Hence its bonus in that regard.

It is not a vessel for busting rocks. Just as the mining ship is not a vessel for recycling man made debris.

/reasoning for not permitting one vessel to be all do all.

Diamonds, uh, er, unfinished diamonds that're still embedded in rocks/such. There we go.
