Ditto. I first found it from Lancer's reactor though. I really loved vanilla and liked the idea of continuing that and also this had a better selection and quality of ships than all the ship packs I found. Very professional presentation as well. I first got it, ages ago (relatively), it was 4.84, must have been around february 08 when i joined the forums. I played SP a bunch with the mod on, maybe 5 times through or so, even made may way up to an outcast dessie without any character editing or anything like that (boy do I feel silly for that now...). I didnt start playing on the server until about 2 months ago, when I got bored of all mor other games.

'Nuff said.
True story. Also, my story.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
I think I google'd for "Microsoft Help" (and/or something about Freelancer and source code), then it recommended this Discovery Mod in the third column.

I got some other mod - can't remember, which, actually - clicked the multi-player button out of sheer boredom, and I saw the 160/200 entry for Discovery RP. Googling ensued.
I was looking over Youtube for Halo: Battle for Reach, seeing if anyone made a animation skit related to it. Found some others and found a mod called Freelancer: Combat Evolved. I downloaded the FL Demo to see what game it was based on and was drawn in by the Gameplay. I went and found it in the Discount Bin at EB Games.:yahoo:
Looked for FL:CE downloads after installing it and found out it was discontinued.:(
Looked for the most populated mod on the Server list and found Discovery.
I found out out about it after a while of playing crossfire, crossfire is a good mod with Sol and all but I was looking for something that kept it pure and was official, as though Microsoft and digi anvil got back together and made an expansion. I started making my own mod but realized I didn't have the resources to make such a big mod.
Then I found out that crossfire wasn't the only mod for freelancer  and while shifting through lancers reactor was confronted with all these mods... I picked two that looked good, cant remember first, second was discovery. The first one was promising but it had heaps of referances to BSG and star wars which kinda puts me off.
But discovery seemed to be the dream mod I was looking for! :)I played it for about an hour and was in the Corsair guard system with a viper when I suddenly thought it would be mean as if it was on the Internet, with people pretending to play as their char.. but that didnt seem to exist. I had never played freelancer on the Internet so I didnt know the global server was down but I thought it was weird that there were no servers there.
Then when I was looking through the program files I saw the shortcut for RP and PVP servers. I had no idea what they meant but randomly selected RP and went on. It stagered me how many people were on and I was reading the rules and reading peoples chats from the bar for about 20 minutes! Then I realised that this was the answer to my prayers. My first char TOME was born...
So thats the story of my first MMO.
Thank you Igiss and the team for all the amazing work done. This mod gave me back the old feelings felt when I first did the freelancer story. I have no idea what they are called but I know only the best of the best games can bring them up.
