This is a small idea that's been running in my head for a bit of time.
Targeting Scrambler System
This system is designed in an attempt to scramble an enemy's targeting systems. However in trials it wasn't completely successful, but it is able to slightly re-direct enemy sensors away from the ship, at a large energy price however. This has lead to higher retreating units, but has led to more of a hassle in direct combat due to the energy consumption. We're still testing it out on missiles.
-------------
What this system does it take the place of an armor slot (or just another add-on) and it creates two extra small 'target crosses', making laser fire re-direct slightly off target. I think this can be done by telling the system to add two NPC's shells onto a ship or something. As for energy consumption, make it take up a permanent supply from the powerplant, not all of it, but enough to annoy.
I don't know, would this be so one ship could scramble 40, or 1 ship would scramble 1? I see role-play opprotunities though, eg. Order recon cruiser...
WEll, if you remember when fighting NPC's, ones that you don't target, have small X's, the weapons will lock on them when the mouse is over them and hit them. This idea is trying to get two or more X's to appear on one ship.
Maybe the scrambler can only work when its targeted? If possible, but more than likely in code it can only work against all ship in range.
Well, can you get it to work, or is this just an idea?
