Indeed.

As Weedalot pointed out, the cargo's destination would seem to determine if it is "contraband" or not..

While the TAZ does not encourage ruffling the feather of House Law Enforcement by smuggling in their faces, we do have a slightly different definition of what is "illegal", depending on where it is bound.

For example, our Holy Tome, the Principia is now being printed on Ames. Somehow, our digi-Principias must reach the Temple!

Also, our Holy Sacrament is not quite ready for harvest at Pueblo Bonito. Therefore, we must rely on inferior synthetic substitutes for our Sacred ceremonies, or we have nothing to pass down the Left Side, eh?

You won't find us carrying slaves or cardi. We see enough of that pass through Baffin daily to turn our stomachs, thank you.

There was a post about it, either me or someone else asked about this like a month ago maybe less.
Now the answer of the admin was:

Zoner Can Smuggler, By server rules.

That's exactly what I said - the Zoner ID does not forbid to smuggle, nor do other ID's that allow
to trade on a regular base (with exception of the one or other special ID maybe).

i agree 100% zoners are against slavery and seeing one with slaves is a "bit" off.
But what you may think is contraband might not be for all.
i couldn't find that post where this was already discussed, but it was definite.

my understanding is that only svavers smuglers and unlafuls can cary contraband. what is the perpes off the role that smugler only can have pirate train or smaler carog ships in oder words 4300cargo or les.

and the borderworlds transport is already a perfect smuggling ship, you do not need a 5000 ton cargo ship to smuggle contraband...with a lawful ID.

its just wrong.

Just wait until you see the IND (Interspace) smuggling contraband through House space, in 5k supertransports too. That will really get your goat. Or Cryer hauling Synth Mary.

Zoners are "lawful" by default, I believe. No, we're not allowed to hang out with pirates, attacking lawfuls. GST tried that.. phail. But "smuggling"...?

Those Zoners who choose to carry "questionable" goods run the same risks of fines, imprisonment, or more dastardly measures if caught.

I would venture that 99% of all cargo carried by all Zoners is "legal". However, there are just times when "running empty" on the return is not an economic option, sir. A wise man named Jay Simon taught me that.

Ok, but were is the point in a smuggler ID ?

Wrong. Very wrong.

You can also carry contraband as a Slaver, an Independent Trader, as an IND pilot, as a Civilian, or as a Freelancer.

Slavers have no cargo limit, IND is limited to 4700, traders can have 3800, and the others have lower limits.
Each ID has its privileges and its restrictions; for example, there is no cargo restriction on slavers, but they can only land on a very select few lawful bases. Smugglers have lower cargo but can land on more bases. IND has a high limit but can only break the law by smuggling. Independent traders have 200 more cargo than smugglers, but can only fire in self-defense. Civilians, of course, are very nerfed. Freelancers have a lot of freedom, but the same cargo capacity as smugglers and cannot use the P-Train, and are not looked upon as kindly by pirates.

And for the guy who said he sees IND smuggling with 5k supertransports, unless you saw it before .85, you can report him. The IND ID limits players to 4700k cargo space.

As for Zoners, the general consensus seems to be that they can carry contraband through non-House space without fear of sanction. And no, not all Zoners are necessarily against slavery. There is a player faction of Zoners that opposes slavery, but they by no means speak for the rest of the Zoners.
In House space, a Zoner carrying large amounts of contraband is generally a no-go.
