I think it would also be a good idea for them to get a base in Magellan, since the entire right side of Magellan is empty of bases. Or there could be a Gaian base near the Leeds jump hole, now that it has been moved to the southern part of the ice field.

From Holmfirth, it's not too far to the Leeds hole and then the Magellan hole, so I think some Magellan activity is close. A base on the right though, hmmm, that'd be kind of neat actually...

Personally I would like to see Gaians as neither friend nor foe to either Corsair or Outcast - neutral to both.

I'd prefer unfriendly to each if anything. There's been too much unfriendliness between the Gaians and Outcasts to get to neutral. Plus the OC are allowed to waltz through and alter people's genetics (which can be seen as parallel to terraforming, in my opinion).

Well really, I would think that the Outcasts are shrewd enough to see that a move away from the Corsairs works in their favour. hostilities between Gaians and Outcasts always seemed to be due to their friendly relations with the Corsairs.

Unfriendly might be better - we dont attack each other - but we dont let them land our bases.

Gaians, being environmental sorts, might not be opposed to Cardamine use, since it is, after all, a perfectly natural plant.

A classic argument, although a weak one, for the use of marijuana.

Cardi use changes a person on a genetic level so, Gaians would be strongly opposed to it's use.

That's a natural change though, isn't it?

As the structure of the plant was designed for specific purposes by the nomads, who the Gaians have all kinds of dislike for, I would say no. For the same reason, they probably dislike genetic engineering.

On the other hand, there may be a degree of self-choice involved in how they see things. A planet doesn't have a choice whether to be terraformed or not while a human does have the choice to use cardamine.

So perhaps they are on the fence about it, with various Gaians expressing each view?

@ Blunt: Not at all...logic like that is another fundamental misunderstanding you have of the faction. Cardimine in it's natural state is fine. cardi use changes DNA, so it's akin to human terraforming for lack of a better word.

::edit- heh! & brad kinda beat me to the punch::

That makes sense.

Although, I really doubt the Gaians would know much about Nomad involvement on Malta.

Make another thread for ramblings on gaians, damn.

On top, I'm glad to see improvements to Bretonia, but make sure you dont let personal bias demand unrealistic things, I dont have anything specific to point out but many other systems and additions to vanila are frankly random and purely at the whim of some. Not to derail with specifics of course, I think people can see some obvious stuff, dont want to make similiar mistakes.

That's true, though I imagine they would know about the DNA-altering effects at least, which is still along the same line of logic.
