Oh and if you plan to dualboot with Vista, be careful of updates to the bootloader. When M$ released Service Pack One it fragged my boot sector, making my computer do one of those bluescreen-insta-reboot loops. Seems like Service Pack One updated the bootloader regardless of whether or not it was actually installed. M$ fail if you ask me. Vista SP1 won't install on dualboot systems
I've abandoned Vista for that and a solid number of other reasons.
In theory it shouldn't be too hard to get Vista SP1 running alongside Ubuntu or another Linux distro, you'd need only make sure to implement the updates before conducting your installation.
That way when GRUB/LILO take over the MBR Vista has already accomplished what its set out to do. I think I may actually test this tonight...
Also, looking into ndiswrapper if you have persistent issues with your wirless card may not be the worst idea.

Edit: Late as ever.
Better late than never!
And yes, I used ndiswrapper for my Broadcom 1390. Found a nice howto that worked like a charm. This was back in Feisty, I've upgraded to Intel since then. Otherwise, I would give you specific support.
Sweet, thanks again for the info. If this blasted defrag would finish, I could tell you how it goes. (That is the reason I can only shrink by 428 megs right? I want to shrink it like 30 gigs so I have room for Ubuntu...) (Defrag went to 60% in the first hour... but it's been stuck there for the last two. It seems to be moving slowly through Freelancer files...)
Muahahaha! Guess what?! I installed Ubuntu without killing everything! I even got the wifi to work... don't ask how, cause I probably couldn't tell ya.
Now... I have no idea what to do really. I'll probably just be looking at software with the package manager or whatever.
Oh also... why does this whole discovery website have messed up text now...? It's in a scrawny font that's not normal... it must be this Ubuntu thing... geez.

Well, find a music & movie player you like :D Fool around with Compiz & eyecandy for a good week or so. Check out the screensavers too, there are some pretty cool ones. (Matrixview ftw)
Ah and get workspaces up and running (Bottom right of the screen). They're handy for managing many tasks.
Yep, thanks for all your help! This looks pretty sweet! I just hope I can find all the programs I need to be just as productive as I was in Vista:P. I'll install those fonts now, too.:)
