the nomad LF only has 1 torp slot, which means it can fire only 1 torp (captain obvious to the rescue), so your point about instakilling a fighter is null.
and also, balancing etc be put aside, quite whining everytime you get your arse handed to you in a fight. nuff said.
Quote:Thirdly This thing has a Hella energy, Enough to fire 2 Mini Razors Simultaneously, Which means it could kill a Fighter in 1 Pass if timed quite well.
3 Guns Class 10 ~ Three class 10 guns are just about the same, dps, as 2 9s and 2 8s. In some cases more, in some cases less.
Class 10 sheild ~ not, of course, a class ten HF shield, but a LF shield.
Energy: 15900 ~ mini (oh, and compare the nommi mr to the human one) razor has refire time limit, cannot be fired simultaneously.
Its also missing mine launchers and CMs, which are rather helpful.
As for it being stronger than other lf, quite possibly. Stronger than a HF or VHF? I rather think not.
It is not the end all ship. It is not particularly overpowered.
You know, I was thinking about this and tried to look at the numbers. If it were to compare to, say, an LWB Griffin, for instance.
3 of the Type II Lasers gives something like 7110 dps. 2 Destroyers + 2 Adv Eliminators is about 6570. So the Nomad Fighter is getting more gun damage off the bat.
It also gets a Nomad Torpedo, which does a noticeable amount of damage (if not quite on par with the Mini Razor). This is compared with a Griffin getting Nuke mines (comparable to Nomad Torpedo, in damage, albeit not an exact comparison). It also gets a CD, allowing it to defend better against missiles and mines, and a CM, both nice additions.
Of course, it gets less shield and armor. But then, the Griffin could switch that equipment out for missiles or debs or screamers.
All in all, it seems the Nomad Fighter is a bit better, but it also has far less flexibility. At least that's how it looks to me.
Unbalancing is usually caused by something that was not intended to be a deliberate effect, such as in 4.84, the Sabre strafe, the Catamarans... everything? And vanilla weakness.
I believe the Nomad LFs' strengths and weaknesses are intentional. Therefore it is not unbalanced. Overpowered it may be, but remember that Freelancer is a skill based game, and superior equipment is not required to win, or be the best. Rather than trying to nerf everything you can't beat, perhaps you could instead better your own fighting capeabilities.
