Ok, so today I finally got around to getting Metasequoia. I've been fiddling around and came up with the below creation
As you can see, I can use the extrude tool... and not much else. I sorta thought of this ship as a slaver ship. The ship that actually captures the slaves before giving them to the slave liner. Anyways, this was just a practice run, and it was my first try. Constructive criticism is appreciated.
It's more the shape I was experimenting with. Frankly, I don't even know if it's scaled right. Before it would be textured, two things must happen. 1. the model must be refined and given more detail, and 2. I need to learn how to texture.

I'd very much doubt it is. All of the models I build are horrendously oversized... but that's what the scale tool is for, so don't sweat it. Once you're done with the model, just import another ship of comparable size and rescale it that way.
Judging from the way you've built the model, I'd venture to guess you have many hidden faces and gaps in your mesh. Even if they're not open gaps, the vertices sometimes tend to sit on top of a facene without connecting to it until you force it to.
EDIT: I just did a quick comparison. Unscaled, my Greyhound model is roughly the same size as a Rhienland Battleship... I honestly expected it to be bigger though.
I didn't get the purpose of those 2 angular bits, seems like a bit if wasted space - just adding to mass...
The rest of it looks like a lego set, too many long rectangular bits or varying length... (there's one even where those 2 angular planes are).
If a ship were to be built as such, i'd imagine that those spaces would be wasted. A few ends sticking out looks a bit chopper style which is good, but seems a bit overdone here.
