Good evening/morning/hell.

In this scenario, the ammo count in the game is raised to a large number. For the sake of argument lets say the limit is pushed to, 200. Two hundred.

This ammo limit will cause all missiles, countermeasures, torpedoes and mine ammo limit to hit the two hundred mark. Now let us discuss the implications and possible effects on the server regarding this raised bar.

In my opinion, I can see battles in the server becoming, obviously a lot longer and will ask for pilots, lone or otherwise to prepare for a long fight and possible bad fingers and wrists, as battle even now, can last up to an hour depending on pilot skill level. (My longest is 40 ish minutes).

With that in mind, it may, wait all right will push the missile users up since they have a larger ammo bank to play with, but in the defence the countermeasures are raised too. So this part is hit and miss.

But the bad thing I can see right now, is the PvP length. Battles are long enough as is, and increasing the time they take may be detrimental, but larger ammo counts could in some cases speed up since there would be more missiles and mines to play with.

But this will also force some people to be much much more careful with their money, since ammo means costs. Every loss will be costly, every battle will cost. So the larger picture of this scenario is grey to me. I have no idea what may happen.

Ok folks, what're your thoughts on this?

A dogfighting tactic is to keep dodging until he/she runs out of missiles whoever your opponent is. Raise the limit and wel be up to our eyeballs in hand cramp. Ever tried taking on a Liberator with a Cannonball in a Werewolf? Not easy.

However, the same old theory of double the projectors, double the payload still works, that's if it works.

In a word:

Nononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononon.

It would shoot battles to almost 1.5 hours.

Fights are already too long IMO... I can't support a 30 min PvP so if we go to 1h for a single ship... No thanks.

But wouldn't more missiles end a fight faster due to more of them hitting your opponent?

Depends on a few factors.

Missile type
Ship agility
CM chance
Player skill
Ship profile (hull design)

more countermasures would meen better defences against gunboats, and next to unstopablitlty for transports who have them. Ok, not needed.

More mines, i often run out of mines and disrupers in a fight, i can kill anything with mines, and am useless without. Ok, my fault, others can use their guns, not needed.

More missiles, yes...missilespam deluxe, it already takes a lot of time to doge a missilefighter dry. Ok, not needed either.

But hey, in a long battle at the end all weapons are depleated, and what remeins is the minirazor (and snac) as heavy hitters, a small increase of ammonition could balance it out a little bit. 200 are far to many even 100 would be to mutch.

People will deffinately be a lot more liberal with their ammo, but I don't think it will change combat that dramatically.
If any thing I think capital ships will suffer more... 200 screamers to spam down a cruiser shield, whoo! x3

I personally don't like the idea, it'll just lead to more spamming.
